Need advice please

I have just installed the 1.2 patch that is suppose to fix the run time error at the start of the game, but I'm still receiving this error and cannot play the game. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Where exactly do you get the runtime error?

Well I get the start up window for the game where it says Play, Install, etc. I select Play and then it acts as if it's going to load but it doesn't, then I get the runtime error.

well...
It sounds to me like you are not meeting the minimum system specs(or slightly higher) with either memory or video card...but that's only one possibility; it could be your page file size, your other programs running, etc. Any more description you can give us of the error/crash occurances?

WESTERN DIGITAL 120GB HD
ATI 9800Pro
C++ Runtime error on launch of the game.
Is there any hope?

did you try to install the latest catalyst drivers from ATI?
which version are you running?
there can be a plethora of reasons for such kind of error.
try updating VGA drivers. maybe it helps.
alternatively try get support from activision or troika.

It could also be your ememory or page file size(make to sure to have windows manage it, or make it higher manually). Your system specs look fine, but if you have low memory(below 512), that might also be the problem, though it could always just be because you havn't installed the latest patch; suprisingly, that is the solution to most of the problems had with this game...Hope you figure it out!
