How deep is the story of PS:T?

I'm trying to figure out how "deep" the story is. Not how *original* it is, amnesia as a plot device is pretty old, although I must say that Torment does it amazingly well (I must say that Torment could qualify as the best electronic RPG I have ever played, jostling with Fallout 2 and Arcanum for 1st place).

What I want to know is, how many things in the story link up together? I have played the game several times, but I have not done everything there is to do, and I don't think I have time. By linking up, I mean how many things relate back to the central character, and the central themes of the game.

I'm really happy that I had the sense to get this game on sale a couple years back. It is fan-bloody-tastic.

Well just about everything you do is in some way linked up to the main plot. I'm sure there are a few things off the main plotline, but not too many.

The question you pose is extremely difficult to answer. I'll refer you to this thread (Chock full of spoilers!), and to Platter's Site for a taste of Torment's depth :)
