I kicked his ass, but can't kill him, and he doesn't get up (after 5 minutes or so real time). I ended up finishing the PlanSpher without talking to him, went back a few weeks later and he's still laying there. I can't kill him or talk to him, so I can't get his ring. Any ideas guys?

If you can't figure out a way to get him out of the spere, you might try picking his pocket. No ideas on what might get around the bug, sorry.

Since I can't kill him, but he's still an enemy (red circle and all) I can't pick his pockets either.

Have you tried charming him?
A few pierce magiks and malaisons might help to get him friendly.

I am assuming you tried to kill Lavok without him being active and you off screen, fireball something of that nature, and then he can not tell you how to complete the sphere quest - i know about this because i did the same thing , you havve to go out of the sphere kill a tan'ari and then take the heart to the engine, if you do it this way then Valygar does not know lavok is dead, so he remains annoied at magic all the time.

You also have to go back to see lavok die before valygar acknowleges it, it is confusing and annoying, and i think this is the longest reply i have ever writen
