I seem to be stuck ,

I am inside of mings palace ,and I did drop down to the level with the water
wheel and killed all the guards but the wooden bar is not moving ,I do get the
yellow sign with the figure pushing it ,but it is not moving !

I press E like crasy !

nothing

I also get a symbol that shows the door is locked but can't find a way of unlocking, which might be the reason for not able to push the bar !

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.............. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh....... Do a search! This topic has been raised 2 million times. Actually more like 10. But still.

What you need to do is run into it, instead of pressing e. See that small bar sticking out on the right end? You need to run into that, and the entire bar moves. The symbol you're seeing is used for moving stuff physically by running into it, and not using the e key. Its a strange design choice, so I understand your confusion, but please do a search next time, or browse through the first few pages of the forum.

actually, there is also a huge bug where the bar doesn't move even after doing that...all you have to do is reload the game to fix your bu(make sure you save first in front of the door). Hope this helps(bugs suck)

If none of that works read some of the forums and get your console working then when you get ot the door open the console and type noclip then press the tilde to close the console and walk through the wall. Then once on the other side repeat the console thing and that should do it.

Actually, there is a stone plate you have to walk on before moving that bar. Go through the door opposite to the locked door with the ammo behind it, and go to the room with the wooden bar. One of the plates isn't a trap, it's some kind of switch.

odd

interesting comment - my last time through involved a killing spree rather than sneaking about and when I got to the bar - I was amazed to find that it slid straight away - I had explored the whole of that level so if the plate did unlock it, then that explained my ease of opening of the door.

I have opened the door each time, but often it has proved very difficult. the switch must simply make it open easily, but it can be done otherwise.

I had had an extended fight in the water-mill room and run around a lot before sliding the bar, so if the plate was in there, I may well have triggered it.

it is a shame that the game does not follow on from the Grout mansion principle of showing doors unlocking when something has been done correctly.
also, model citizen quest needs some way of the player knowing if they have completed it - it is simply unfair that it takes such a long journey to find out that you have 'failed' - even though nobody reacted to your presence. at least the laptop computer should say that you have failed if that is the case.
any chance of a patch, I wonder?

I used the noclip cheat and I have to say, that the thing with the switch is completely wrong. There are three ways to get to the room with the mill:
Right through the door, wihich is usually locked, and through two corridors. Once, the door was unlocked by an enemy and by coincidence, the wooden bar didn't move at all. When I went through one of the corridors, I wondered why one of the plates didn't trigger any trap at all. This led to the wrong conclusion, that that plate must have been a switch. Now I've tried to prove this, and it proved to be wrong. Sorry.

Wrong again

Ok, this may sound a bit annoying, but now as I've played as an Malkavian with the inspection bonus I've proved myself wrong again. It seems that there is this trigger, which should be the usual way of "unlocking" the bar. I've always been asking myself why anyone should walk around the whole level, when you could just turn right and go through the door - obviously this trigger is the answer. Due to some bug maybe it's possible to unlock the bar just by reloading the game in this level, a fact which explains, why hardly anyone notices the trigger and why I made those wrong conclusions.
