I'm replaying the game, I'v just played as a Ventrue and have decided to play as a Gangrel, and i was wondering . . .

1) Is it better to Frenzy or not?

2) How much Humanity do you need to Frenzy?

3) Any tips on how do Frenzy good in Combat?

4) Whats skills should i Advance the most?

Thanks in Advance,

In all my runs through the game I managed to frenzy once and it's hardly a considerable factor in the game. Generally I consider it a bad idea since IMO the bonuses aren't worth losing control over your character. If you wish to try frenzying, keep your humanity as low as possible and get hit with your blood low (and try to do it when surrounded by enemies).

As for a Gangrel's stats, none of his disciplines help with sneaking (no obfuscate or dominate) so you might want to keep that in mind. The main question you have to ask yourself is: Protean or Mellee? Investing in both is pointless. Other than that, there are no Gangrel-specific decisions...

re: playing as a Gangrel

I finished it playing as a Gangrel and BELIEVE me, don't waste your time on how to frenzy. Frenzying is BAD!!! As a matter of fact one of the WEAKNESSES as a gangrel is that you'll go into Frenzy if your humanity or blood is too low. You NEVER want to frenzy because you have no control. concentrate on your disciplines and, strength, wits, etc..

uh...

So, Frenzyin is bad huh?
Well, that pretty much stinks if u ask me. Frenzying is one of the Gangrels best qualities. . .

Anyone else have any opinions?

Perhaps Positive??

Dude, give it a few days. This isn't instant messaging, let it seep in for a while, let others come and see it, etc.

Nope, frenzying is bad. But Gangrels can do other things, you know. I think doing aggravated damage with your unarmed attacks is pretty awesome.

frenzy is NOT a Feat or discipline

Dude, one thing you don't realize is that going into frenzy is not a positive thing. You're basically not in control of your character if you frenzy. You seem to think it's a feat or a discipline, but it's totally the opposite!!! This is a fact, and stop wasting your time poling for opinions!!

Stop wasting your time repeating what has already been said.

Your common (or garden) Gangrel is one of nature's ****-kickers, with gnarly claws and big sharp pointy teeth. Fond of the outdoors and music festivals, they have within them a feral rage, which bubbles beneath the surface ever acheing to break free (which will happen if you steal their cider...)

Its best to up those close combat feats, strength and brawl are your friends. The combination of fortitude and protean is very effective in combat. Your strength and stamina are increased by later levels of protean, combined with fortitude, you can become pretty much immune to damage from most firearms and kick arse at a world class level with your claws.

The bonus to stats from frenzy is the clan's 'advantage' (but increased frenzy is the 'disadvantage' hmm...) So i guess it depends on your style of play;

You could have a low humanity Gangrel, keep him low on blood and just let him let rip in combat areas, running amok and eating everybody (which, lets face it, would be fun to watch ;) and use that as your main combat tactic.

Not sure how often this would happen in masquerade areas tho, the degree to which you could control it would be the deciding issue imo.

Just a reminder to all, keep things civil

There are no stupid questions, and posts to "burn" people just aren't cool

As for frenzy, couldn't say. Loosing control is one of those things that makes the game Role Playing.

I'm playing as a female Gangrel and I just love her. I've increased my malee and fortitude almost to the max. Animalism is pretty good too especially if you are fighting two (or more) enemies at the same time - you can send an animal (wolf) to fight one guy while you are fighting another one.

As for frenzy, I haven't tryed it...

actually you can send wolf on one enemy, ravens on other one and fight the 3rd guy =]

Well when I am using my Gangral I send my wolf on one and my blood fiends on another and then if I have to fight the last one with my fire axe :) It makes short work of most things. But then again I have my animalism and my melee to the max.

Just so people are aware, because I love aware people, Clan Gangrel's usual clan disadvantage... Or curse... Is that any frenzy they enter brings them one step closer to the beast.. In a totaly physical way. They get pointy ears, or cat eyes, or a mane of hair, or padded hands, or a tail, a slightly snout like face... Obviously an amalgamation of such things can make your average feral pretty horrid to look upon.
Suffice to say, for a Gangrel, frenzy is usualy a VERY bad thing. Nobody wants to wake up with udders after all. Bearing in mind that bloodlines removed that and replaced it with an increased chance to frenzy, and then gave all the clans Advantages and made Gangrel "more powerful in frenzy" it seems to defeate the purpose of having a disadvantage a little.
All said and done? Stay out of frenzy. I'd rather have the option of a strategic retreat, and be able to say "no, lets NOT wipe out that street full of innocent people and police officers"

my first Vamp was a gangrel and I never got to Frenzy... this is a good thing .

Frenzy is the simple reminder to you as a vampire that you have fallen deeper into the BEAST and allowed it to take you over .hence why low humanity effect is ALWAYS BAD.Think about it like this .... you are feeling over whelmed and you know it is only gonna get worse. You feel your life draining ( low blood ) and you know the enemy is pressing you deeper into the corner. So what does any animal do ... fight for survival, hence you freak up and lose control of your human sences and let the BEAST take over.

this as a vampire can BREAK the Masquerade and the nyou are no longer welcome and thr Blood Hunt is called on you .... BAD THINGS MAN ... VERY BAD THINGS happen with this !

So I got my Melee , Brawling up and I got Fort, Protean , Animalism to lvl 3 .
this allowed me to get my Sneak up as well , I became a controlled silent stalker who can sneak behind Humans and Undead and still take out my target without being seen.

Gangrels are more intune with their Animalistic side and IMHO they should use those traits to help them in missions. So watch how animals stalk their prey and learn how to use that strategy in the game , soon you will learn the stalking with sneak is a great thing. ( SPOILER ) Once the Prince had called the Blood Hunt on me - I was able to sneak right to the cab and get away without fighting .And when I got to the venture Tower to whack the Prince ... I was in full sneak mode and was having a Rambo day !

I let the Animalistic side inhance my performance not let teh BEAST take over and run wild but it was always a good thing ot know that if I got in a jam and was about to Snap and break into Frenzy mode I was gonna take down alot of enemies with me.

This game is still on my Top 5 list and I have already told serveral friends about it and they are now playing it as well .
