The weapons have speed factors, but what is the best, a 4 or a 1, for example...

"In the beginning Bioware created heaven and earth. The earth was without form and empty, with darkness on the face of the depths. But Bioware's spirit moved on the water's surface. Bioware said: 'there shall be gameplay', and gameplay came into existence. Bioware saw that the gameplay was good..."

I've been wondering about it myself from time to time. Speed factor has absolutetly nothing to do with attacks / round - right? it just determines who gets to hit the otherone first? What about situation where I dualwield two short swords +3 (speed factor 0) and have 3 attacks / round. The guy I'm facing is wielding a long sword +5 (speed factor 5). The who gets to hit who first Image ? How many attacks do I get before the guy gets to hit me and how is it calculated ... Image ? (for all you guys who so much liked calculating averages etc...)

I believe this will be mostly according to the AD&D initiative rules and I don't remember all the details.

Usually what will happen in the game is the character with the faster attack will get one attack, then the other will get his attack and so forth (provided they have the same number of attacks).

When you start combat with an enemy, the speed of your weapon is added to your final initiative roll. So having a lower speed factor weapon will give you a better chance at striking first. Of course there are other variables factoring into final intiative.
