I think I've just found my perfect PC

I've just started anew with a LG Half-Elf Cleric/Ranger and already I'm loving her! :D

Free dual wielding
The glitch that allows me to cast druid spells (Insect Plague without having to take Cernd :) better still no Jaheira :D )

So I get a decent cleric and tank all in one! I knew it was a good omen when I rolled a pretty decent set of stats

STR 18/64
DEX 18
CON 18
INT 10 (who cares)
WIS 18
CHA 14 (not be considering 18 in four other scores)

Now if I could just decide on her travelling companions at the moment I'm thinking

01. Talshara = Protagonist (dual wield flails/hammer)
02. Keldorn (For Carsomyr)
03. Mazzy :D (now unmodded so shes simply a fighter again, so she can use Halberds/Short Bow)
04. Anomen (mainly for the tacky romantic subplot and the arguments with Keldorn, he can focus on healing so Talshara can focus on other spells)
05. Jan (thief + specialist mage = good combo) take note Yoshimo (single class Bounty Hunter = next to useless)
06. Nalia not quite up to Edwin's standards but I've modded her so she's now a thief/conjurer giving her a extra spell ot two, and I feel sorry for the poor love given that aunt of hers, not even the trolls could stomach her)

but given that I'm not out of the opening dungeon yet...
As usual any comments would be appreciated about the party would be appreciated but I've decided to stick with his PC so I'm not changing her (or dropping Mazzy  )

Well I just looked at Nalia's stats and I guess I never looked past her sub-par thief skills and annoying personality. She's got some pretty good stats and as a conjurer she'll be perfect.

Having already SK.ed Nalia and with Jan in your party, why don't finish the job by changing Nalia from a thief/conjurer to a fighter/conjurer?

I've kinda gotta keep Nalia as a thief coz in my wisdom I've decided to replace Anomen with Haer'Dalis (just for a change really) thus meanging I'll have to sub Jan for Aerie making Nalia my main thief (gods help me)

Then dual her at lev. 10, make her a swashbuckler10/mage, same as Imoen in Refinements and other mods.

Swapping Anomen with Haer'Dalis was a fantastic move, he's probably the most flavorful NPC in the game IMHO second only to Jan of course. And Holy crap that's gonna be a lot of spell slinging. I liked him better as an auxillary tank though after he's cast a few buffs.

Actually Skuld that is exactly how I plan to use him.

Kinda of lure to keep enemies distracted while Talshara, Nalia and Aerie spell sling away and Mazzy with her bow.

Once dazed and confused Talshara will switch to blunt weapons, Mazzy halberds and along with Keldron join Haer'Dalis in mopping up, maybe even wit Aerie supporting with slings and Nalia bows :D

Lompo is it really necessary to invest that many thief levels in Nalia as I will only be using find/disable traps, open locks (which could be supplemented with knock) and occasionally pick pocket (after taking a few potions of mastery thievery). Never bothered with traps or backstabbing.

Instead of making Nalia a Swashbuckler/Mage, you might consider making her a specialist Mage (I suggest Conjurer), and making Haer'Dalis a Swashbuckler. The Blade is a really good Bard kit (especially since Haer'Dalis has extra proficiency points), but the Swashbuckler kit also suits him.

If someone else in your party can pick locks and find traps, the only advantage in keeping Nalia as a Thief is her ability to use a bow. But it would be a shame to give her a bow and not let her do anything else.

At the moment she is modded using the Gibberlings 3 NPC kits so she is an Adventurer/Conjurer

I think the adventurer class gives her a bit of a boost in lock picks/find traps at the expense of not being able to back stab. Hopefully that should be enough to get me through though I kinda like the idea of Haer'Dalis as a bard, as being able to self buff will be really handy and I can finally make use of those instruments.

Also I'm going to Shadow Keep Aerie making her a cleric/illusionist (well she was taken in by gnomes)

Some good ideas for a future run through though ... no must resist concentrate on present run through...

10 lev. of thief isn't much in term of exp. (160k) if you think in the long run and will give you enough points to have good find traps/lockpicks without resorting to items. the 10 lev. are chosen also because you get the extra swashbuckler bonus (+1 AC and +1 Thac0); if you have extra skill points put them in trapping, having choosen HaerDaelis he will take care of pickpocketing.

Alternativly you can follow VanDondu suggestion and have Nalia as pure spellcaster (conjurer), but in that case you need a thief: HaerDaelis Swasbuckler is an option, but I think that you would be better with Jan back (he is more than enough for thievin and he is a specialist mage too, and magic is never enough inthis game.)
