Right now I'm married to four chicks: one in Oakvale, one in South Bowerstone, one in Knothole Glade, and Lady Grey. I need to start bringing in money. Is there more houses to buy so I can rent out? How can I run a shop without killing the guy who runs it?

Mini games are a quick way.
Property rent, robbing shops and selling back to the store owner.

if you are married to lady grey that means you've finished the Arena quest... next time around use the hero save cheat and fight the Arena as many times as you can take it.. killing whisper won't help much if you just do it to get the extra gold cuz the game auto saves after it so make sure you hero save after killing archanox and reload it... you'll keep all the gold and whatever else you've gotten along the way

Where are all the areas I can rent houses in? And what areas have shops I can own?

you can rent almost all the buildings.. the only one I have not been able to purchase this far is the lighthouse other than that all buildings are good to buy oh yeah and the windmill thing.. that's not for sell either, if the place has and owner you can buy it.. although I'm now thinking.. i don't think you can buy the house by the Lychfield Graveyard either nor Warden's office nor the Rose Cottage so ok my bad not all the buildings..... you can buy buildings at Bowerstone South/North, Oakvale, Knothole Glade and Hook Coast.

So I can own shops without killing the owner? And how can I rent houses that don't have the signs in front of them?

What's the process to go about buying the shops?

if you don't want to kill the owner (which I think is wornggggg very wrongggg you should kill them all
) you just need to get them to follow you outside of town then just make them wait out and when you go back in town where their shop or house is at they'll be available for buy... now if you di this and then you aint got enough dough to buy the property.. next time around you try to get them out their place they will most likely turn you down so you'll just have to keep trying

OK I bought the shop in Oakvale. Now, it's only bringing in a couple bucks a day. How can I make it so my shop brings in more cash?

I have seen another way posted somewhere too. Here is the way I have been doing it.
Buy a house, do all the fixin' up, put some trophies on the walls inside (try to use the best ones you have as they give you more money), sell the house, break down the door, run in and get your trophies back, buy the house (it will be less than you sold it for) put your trophies on the walls again, so on and so forth.
The oakvale house is one of the easier ones because it's small and has two trophy holders. Also it's available almost from the start. I think I got about 1300 extra bucks a time just using the bandit seal and the hobbe tooth.

So... get a divorce.
Either axe her or have her follow you somewhere and let the bad guys do it. Since you already have all the houses, use the best one to transfer the cash. Guess it depends on how much money you have.

I only know of the Old Grandma/500 gold beside the cottage and the rose bush cheat...I wish I had thought about that hero save for the Arena! I will have to do that next time around. Too bad you can only do the Arena once, legitimately.
