The Children Of Oblivion

I was wandering  what Bethesda is going to do about children in Oblivion since they didn't appear in Morrowind. Are children even going to appear in Cyrrodil  since Imperials aren't long-lived like the elves of Morrowind, just a thought....

There's a mod-in-progress to add children to Morrowind, btw. As for Oblivion: I strongly suspect Bethsoft will leave 'em out. They take up game space, coding, writing and scripting. If you had the choice between spending time adding individual dialog for adults or putting in kids running around in Oblivion, which would you choose? ;)

But I wanna play with my fellow toddlers :( And I'm thinking about getting Oblivion on computer and xbox, I prefer games like that on xbox but because of the TES4 construction kit I will get it on computer too. Oh one more thing... do you know if guards will attack someone who attacks you?

I have no reason to suspect they wouldn't; after all, they do so, now. And you don't even need a mod for this.

Oh sorry, but I'm sure I have never experienced it before, or if I have I have forgetton. My memory always makes a fool of me :(

If there are no children, how are my evil characters going to make their child-skin cloaks? Or chldren-bone golems? Yes, my evil characters are actually quite evil! :p

Apart from that, it does seem rather strange to have no kids running about. You'd assume that there would be some, just for the sake of completeness, anyway.

Cheers,
TGHO

killing children

i don't think they will make children, it will be nice, but ultimately - NO :(

my reasoning is that when they put the children in fable, all the beta testers immediately killed them and that's why there that the one city with children has no weapons/magic

that's just whant i heard

yes indeed if they did put children, and you could kill them, the n it would probably be banned i a couple of countries.

Not banned, but the children will be taken out of the game - plus all quests associated with them. At least that's what happens in Germany. They did it with Fallout 2. That's *one* reason why I didn't buy the German but the English version of the game...

I can live without children (in Oblivion :p ). It would be interesting if they were implemented but it's not crucial in my opinion. If they'll be implemented and if they'll be killable: I'll buy the English version of the game anyway. The international mod-community is by far larger than the German one...

Putting children in a computer game would take a huge amount of extra work that can be spent elsewhere, and the ethical problems are big too: you'd have dozens of teenagers running around and killing the children for fun, and I'm not even talking about the things that modders could do with it. When Morrowind was released, the first nude mod was made 1 or 2 months after the release day. If Oblivion is released with children in it, the first pedophilic themed mod would be completed faster than you can say "is the game released yet?".

Why cant they just put a few quest related children in the game like adroing fan. I mean would it or would it not be cool to be the listener and have your own pint sized dark aprentice.

Yes, lack of children is one of the things I noticed as well. Spoils the 'realism' a bit.

Plus having pavements (sidewalks) to the city roads but no traffic, so no need for pavements...

Also no birds. Birdsong, yes, but no birds. A few butterflies here and there, but that's it. And no fish except slaughterfish. No sea mammals. No land mammals except wolves, dogs and bears, and giant rats...

Gimme a few squirrels, the odd mouse in the grass, some flies buzzing around those darn zombies and the dead bodies you leave in your wake, the occasional fisherman hauling up his nets or casting a line...

Ok, I know I'm asking for pie in the sky... ;)

You make a very serious and valid point.

You cant even see yourself eat or drink, thats unrealistic.
But I wouldnt have childrens in Oblivion by same reason as molto mentioned.

i dont think its possible to make oblivion realistic unless you remove the main quest and mages guild and all elements of magic. where do yo see daedra oblivion gates and people summoning dead thing in the real world. im fine ith the game how it is but that just my opinion

It was not that I meant, i meant realistic to the world we are playing in, you see other NPC, chewing around why shouldnt you. And have you ever watched the Chuck Norris movies at your tube? Was neat to see the character raise up of bed and eat.
