Levelling up problems

Each time a character levels up, they always gain the minimum amount of hitpoints. For fighters thats usually about 3, clerics 1/2 and mages 1. This happens in any game I play, even if I start a new one. The only time the levelling up works properly is for the first level up (for each character). Anyway I can fix this? I'm playing SoA with ToB installed (collec. edition)
p.s how do I get you asylum 2? (irenicus area)

Sounds like you're just having bad hit point rolls. If you want to see if you can also get the max, set the difficulty to "Normal" instead of "Core" when they level up.

I've never played with core, only with Normal and Easy. To solve this problem I've tried using all levels of difficulty, starting new game, etc., still ALWAYS the minimum rolls (for my character, that is 3HP per level as minimum throw of 1 +2 bonus from 17 constituion). Any other ideas?

After lvl 9, you gain only little hp per level I think.

Oh right, the double-pack didnt come with a manual unfortunately so the only reference I have is my BG1 manual. I also read somewhere that AD&D-2 rules have something about a 'fixed' level up amount from level 10 onwards, is that right? If so, that would clear things up.

Your constitution stat affects your hitpoint rolls heavily and also the difficulty value you have the game set on has negative affects on your hit points.
If you have the spell "Draw Upon Holy Might" and cast it before you select the level up button then you will also actually gain more hitpoints per level.

Rhun, after (th fighter only get 3 hit points, stat, no con bonus. Mages after 10th only get 1, also sorcerors. Cleric and druids, I think thiefs and monks get 2 after 9 through 11th or so depending. Con. gives you hit points for lower levels only. Also multicalss level-ups are half, 1 minimum. Also if you are just having bad hitpoint roles, You can if you so choose, reload and reroll. It sometimes takes a while but it will evenually give higher numbers. Hope this help, good luck.

Your main question has already been answered, but for future reference, you should have a BGII manual - just not a printed version. Take a look in your BGII directory (by default it's "C:\Program Files\Black Isle\BGII - SoA"), and you should see a file called "Baldur's Gate 2 Manual.pdf".

answer: yes, the constitution bonus is only applied to levels 1-9 an any class.

constitution
Also, the casting the spell: "Draw Upon Holy Might" before leveling up is useless... The extra hitpoints will still go away after the spell duration.
The game keeps a tally of "base" hp's, which are those granted by class, and by level-up die rolls. Then an ongoing adjustment is made based on whatever your current constitution is...
