I voted yes - I don't play computer games anymore, but I am a liar, a cheat, a scoundrel, and a fustilarian of ill repute when it comes to life.

No. Why should I lower the pleasure of success for myself?

Why cheat? It takes the fun out of everything...anyone can type in a "code", it takes patience to beat something!

Depends, but rarely.
I never cheat in any multiplayer games.
In single player games if stuck immensly - I do turn to walkthroughs (although gamequality these days makes walkthroughs unneasecary

), which is a degree of cheating. If having beaten a game at least once , I can sometimes be cheesy and bugabusing in order to try something different.
Very rarely do I alter anything in the game - such as by the use of editors, console commands et al, but I have been known to do it in for instance Baldurs Gate with GateKeeper/ShadowKeeper instead of rolling all day for good stats.

I don't cheat.
Not for good stats in a RPG, no GOD mode in FPS.
The only thing I ever do is view a walkthrough and that's only when the problem is stupid.
For instance:
In LotR Return of the King on Gamecube my friend and I were stuck in a level with us killing elephants to save Pippin and that chick. And we couldn't do it, we were searching for a way down a cliff but couldn't find it and we coudn't hit the elephants on the other side (we had to go down the cliff for this).
So we looked up the walkthrough to find where the 'stairs' down were, they were totally hidden if you look at the wrong place. Very irritating..

Occasionally. More so in life than in games.

never in RL, but in games i might use smth like a walkthrough if truly stumped but usually just read walkthroughs after finishing the game to see what i missed..
there are of course glitches/bugs that happen in games and that's when i cheat if there's no way around it otherwise since i don't consider correcting smth the game has messed up as "cheating" just "correcting the error"

No, I don't cheat in games nor in life, it just takes out the fun.

The fun in games lies in the challenge they provide. I can't say the same about life.
edit: I jest, I jest.

I use cheats, but only after completing the game. Sounds strange? But how can I kick all those monsters asses without being troubled? Then I'll god mode and give ammo and I'll have fun remaking my way, but first runs are always clean. I used a lot of cheats when I played the original doom games, but at that time I was really young.
I never use cheats on RPG's though. I only used CluaConsole a very few times to spawn critical items that have been lost, and the Shadow/Gate keeper to create the characters.
Cheating is only cool if you dont like the game and want to get rid of it (*cough*Daikatana*cough*).

I said yes. Because i used to cheat. I never cheat anymore. When you cheat its like taking a good game and making it no worth beating. I just stopped cheating like last year or so.

Why do people always say that? It isn't neasecarily a good game to begin with

.
Also - depending on the degree and type of cheating it dosen't neasecarily ruin the game. Naturally giving yourself god mode would likely - but using cheats to enhance or alter gameplay can infact prolong the experience of a game.
Besides - cheating can also make a bad game fun.

I put no because I don't usually cheat.. I do occasionally when I'm messing around, or if I just want to see the story and don't like the gameplay.

Yes, I do my best to beat games with no help, occasionally I need direction with things to solve a puzzle or something like that though.
After I've beaten the game though, I tend to throw on different cheats and have fun.
There are games I would never play as I don't find them fun too that are a blast with certain cheats on. I got hooked on Soldier of Fortune on god mode. I've never been big on guns and shooters until death match on Halo came out. Tearing into soldiers with a belt knife and chopping the corpses into tiny bitty pieces while being shot at through, then the game has it's amusement factor when drun. I mean, it's just ridiculous, but vastly amusing to me that I can sit there and chop someone apart and those guys fire ammo into me and they just sit there as I move from one to another. Oh well.

I only use cheats if I've finished a game or have grown extremely tired of it. Then its just a case of me debugging the game to the point of it crashing, a great example is BG2. I must of crashed it so often that actual files had become corrupt.

I'll beat it on my own, then just as a goof i'll use cheats.
