The big NPC question

Yet again I decided to start a new BG game, with an evil Cleric/Mage, and yet again I'm wondering who I should take with me. Four party slots are already filled: myself, Xzar, Montaron and Kagain (although I'm not sure of this one, so far I'm only using him because I need a tank), but there are so many nice evil NPC's that I want to bring with me! Who of the following two should complete my party: Eldoth & Skie, Edwin, Faldorn, Tiax or Shar-Teel? Keep in mind that I don't care if npc x has "uber0wnskillz0rs" or whatever, I'm just searching for the NPCs with the most entertaining personalities and comments.

Eldoth and Skie. I'm a real fan of these two. They're a very attractive couple, with a nice story and background. Their soundsets are great, especially Skie's. I'll never understand why these two didn't make it to BG2.

However, with the exeption of Faldorn, the other npc's are very entertaining choices as well. It's too bad Tiax comes in so late.

If you're not sure about Kaigan, why not take Shar-teel in his place? She's a decent enough fighter and an original character.

Are you playing using Tutu? If so, you should get Shar-Teel. Her and Kaigan have some hilarious dialogues! Even if you are not using Tutu, I'd still go for her, with Tiax my other vote. The only problem is that you won't get some of the evil chaps until Chapter 5, which has always annoyed me.

Cheers,
TGHO

I agree with tgho. Tutu is really nice and you can use to make your npc's a little different. Since you're playing a c/m, it might be nice to make Xzar a sorc or wild mage.

Am I the only one who didn't enjoy playing BG with TuTu ?

I think if you just give Kagain the Gauntlets of Dexterity he should be the best fighter in the game. I've tried it and he was better than my fighter! Much better than Shar-Teel. But in terms of personality...

I still like Kagain better.

To Curry: Haven't tried TuTu yet, but I hear the Shapeshifter is overpowered.

The Shapeshifter in Tutu is the same as in BG2... Though yeh, it might be overpowered considering the lower levels.

I would definitely recommend Tutu, and if you get it, you might want to look at the various Tutu mods at http://www.pocketplane.net and http://www.gibberlings3.net - there are a pair of NPCs, Mur'Neth by me and Indira by Ghreyfain, who you might like to try. Mur'Neth is Chaotic Evil so might fit well into your party.

If you're just playing BG1 rather than Tutu, I like divine magic so I'd recommend rounding off your party with Tiac and Viconia. :)

Tiax and Edwin always have some amusing comments. They are both so pompous that they need to prove how superior they are. The rest of the party looks good. I wish BG had more npc's to choose from, though. Not enough variety for an evil party until much later in the game.
