PC Bug?

I finally got my hands on the PC version today, but after I installed it, created my character, and started to play, it crashes without warning right after the opening movie. I only failed the Video and Open GL specifications, but I failed those on the first one also and played through it without incident and the other screens in the game ran smoothly enough. Is there a way to fix this so I can play?

I have exactly the same problem: The game hangs after playing a movie. Just disable the movies in the Options of the KotorII loader. I don't think you will miss a lot, because important cutscenes are displayed in-game.

Hmm, I tried that and it's still not working. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling it, but I still get the error message before actually beginning to play. Any other advice?

first question I would ask is this the first game you have that has done this and secondly what spec is your pc?

if you have config your pc to out perform your card then you might end up with this affect. Just looked on the KOTOR 2 tech help and nothing indicates to be a problem other than the graphics card installed.

Yes SP2 would want to come off a wasted product MS made to make people 'feel' safer and end of the day is crap!!

I have the XBOX version of this and gettin PC version tommorow now if I get the same as you guyz have then they need to make a bug fix and release it as soon as poss.

my pc specs are:

AMD Athlon 3000xp
1024mb DDR 400
160GB Hdd
16x DVD Rom
8x DVD-RW
FX5900XT 128mb Graphics Card
Windows XP Pro (no service packs installed)

Off topic but i'm curious as to why you are buying a PC version if you have an xbox one? You do know that they are the same game. It's not like Kotor where they added Yavin and new items. Just trying to save you some money :p

1) Collectors Value - I am a big star wars fan
2) I am a PC person, Id sit more in front of my monitor more than my TV.. and I am a little crap at using joy pads/game pads, so the PC version has a major plus side.

Also i bought the game with the work incentive so it technically not my 70quid I spent! ;) ...

my XBOX was an impulse buy to play Halo2 at the time and then KOTOR2 was announced to be coming out when I got to the shop they had the XBOX version and I asked for the PC one and they said they did not have it so instead of failin my task for the day I got XBOX version.

- Only flaw I seen so far on that is after 7hrs of continual play the machines lags LOL maybe the XBOX aint designed for the PC treatment which gets blasted 12hrs a day on days off

I have XP SP2 and the game runs perfectly. Though, I used TweakHound's guide and tweaked the services at the Gamer level.

May be worth a shot, if nothing else you might squeeze a bit of performance out of your machine.

My Errors Found in game

1) Updater Feature fails to find a specific file
cure: downloaded update manually

2) The Game sometimes looses sound during cut scenes

3) The Game Freezes on certain areas
solution: save as many times as possible

The game is good but the tiny faults need to be addressed! I read up in a magazine we get at work that stated that the reasons games are released onto the market with bugs is because the deadline pressures of the publisher.

if this is the case I am positive they will rectifiy all the nigly things as the things stated above.
--

Now to test my PC to make sure the faults arent caused by my PC I own the KotoR 1 and that game uses the same Graphics Engine as the sequal does, and uses the same Technology the FMV footage takes so the fault unfortunatly is inbetween the 0's and 1's in the core of the game.

---

Annoying bit of the game: I know I am no where near complete to be honest I in two days of sitting here explorerin every inch I am doing well to be at Dxun (1st choice after Telos) followin Banshees list!

The bit that annoyed me was the LS point gain with the Czerka guy in the Telos Reserch centre! how many times do you have to tell the dumbest Tw'Lek in Star Wars history to 'FOLLOW' instead he stands and stares at the surrounding!!

--

Other than the annoying bugs the game is solid and sound and the introduction of a Proper Jedi Council makes it feel homey to the Star Wars universe!
