frankly even if i could buy both- I'd still just go with mlb 2k5. mvp has been going downhill for a while now and it's kinda on cruise control these days, just more of the same, etc.
2k5 on the other hand changes the record and actually tries to improve each year, instead of just changing the digit at the end of "200" as MVP seems to. This year 2k5 has improved pitching, all new baserunning and some nifty customizable stuff in terms of skyboxes, music and things like that.
there's a huuuuge preview at ign with pics and videos and what not that you oughta check out. if that odesn't sell you on 2k5- nothing will. i may still pick up mvp if I see it cheap enough, but for my money 2k5 is gonna be the way to go this year.

I'd jump in, but I tend to stay away from all sports games, save the NHL series (which has degraded quite a bit of late

)

ESPN series tend to be more realistic and therefore play better for fans of that sport (@Aegis...ESPN NHL 2K5, though I haven't played it, is supposed to outshine NHL 2005 by far). At least that's what I think. I mean compare ESPN NBA to NBA Live and the latter seems to be a big dunk-fest instead of a 'sports simulation'. So if you want realism go for anything ESPN. If you want only semi-realism with arcade twists, go for EA.
