Sound Problems :(

I'm having some problem with the effect sounds on my Fallout. The Music/Movie sounds and Speech Sounds are working all fine, but the effect sounds are not working! Is this a common problem? Have any of you had the same problem? Is there anything to fix this?

Ohh, by the way, I'm using XP Service Pack 2

I had all sorts of weird problems with Service Pack 2 on my XP box. Ended up reformatting the HD and reinstalling XP without SP 2 (only SP 1) and most of the weird problems went away. You might try getting rid of SP 2.
Beyond that, are you using a sound card or mobo sound?

I have a Sound Blaster Live sound card.
Has that anything to do with it?

Really? Huh, both my wife and myself have experienced problems when using SB Live cards. My suggestion is to remove the card from the system, and try it without the card installed, going through mobo sound.
