PC Gamer article

The new issue of PC Gamer has a nice article on Oblivion, it details a few of the features and has some nice screenshots, including a female archer, some interiors and a new monster. (Sorry but I don't have any idea what it is-looks a little like a 3 eyed primate). One of the features mentioned is that npcs wil talk to each other and you can eavesdrop on their conversations. They imply that you might be able to get important info this way not just the random comments that MW has.

Hey, that sounds cool. One thing I am really looking forward to in Oblivion is more active and non-random NPCs.
Cheers,

[/QUOTE]I have heard of that monster, (I only remembered it because I heard it was described as a 3-eyed primate) from the elder scrolls forums (only went on for a day, it wasn't as good as GB). Would anyone know if the article is on the net?

The more I hear about the features the more I doubt that they'll find their way into the game. Why? The more I expect the more disappointed will I be.

Would posting a scan of the page constitute copyright infringement or would it be protected under fair-use? I certainly wouldn't mind seeing the article, or at least the screenshots

Not allowed, it is copyright infringement. In addition, Buck has repeatedly stated he doesn't want large images added to the site. Sites that regularly allow that get bogged down from lag.
Why don't you summarize the new features, in your own brief words? Probably better than reading PR, anyway.

I'll do a summary later when I have a bit more time. I'm hoping that the official site will put the screenies up when this issue is off the news-stands.

I am very envious of all who got to read that article. I am in the UK so couldn't buy it but would have done if it were possible! My own gaming mag had an article in this month but it was a sorry length! Let's hope that the US article will be released more generall somewhere sometime - soon!
I see that I am an exalted member. Is that the first rung of the ladder?!

Don't be. PR is one of two things: 1) complete puffery; or 2) nearly complete puffery.
All the facts about changes in the game could almost certainly be summarized in one or two simple paragraphs, and everything else is just designed to make people jump up and down for a year. Some of it (and I speak in general terms, not about this title) is even wrong--even deliberately phrased in such a way as to give the wrong idea, provided it sounds impressive. It's best to ignore PR altogether. After all, you plan to get the title when it comes out, anyway. So why bother with the hard sell?

No, that's it. Once you reach 50 posts (I think), you get that. The only other change is moderator status. There are also a few folks who have individualized titles from a point in GB's existence when Buck, the site owner, was giving those out in exchange for monetary forum support. But that's been done away with.

You are right about magazine articles either being full of waffle or only telling you what you know anyway. Glad I didn't miss anything - much! Anyway, I have only just completed the main quest in the current Elder Scrolls and still have Tribunal to do. Besides, I shouldn't get too impatient for the next saga as I need to save up for a better computer. Good excuse I think!
Glad I am at the top of the tree (apart from Moderator of course) in the great scheme of things here. I enjoy this site a lot although I don't post much.
