hey all my first post:
ive played through every class kit (excpt the bard, so ive played and finished the game about 18-20 times), excpt the monk. I sort of want to be a good monk but ive heard that it gets fun when romancing viconia. so should i be lawful neutral and leave her alignment alone of be lawful good and change her alignment to good (using the helm of opposite alignment)what do you guys think? There's no "fun" involved, just some pretty nonlinear dialog done for four party NPCs (3 female, 1 male) probably by some 300-pound programmer who works for Bioware. If you want fun, go find a person of your preferred gender and age group and get to know them well.

But there was a grin behind my comments. Hopefully, he didn't get so turned off that he'll drop out of society and join a monotheistic secluded religious order.

No, but you really should read Buck's forum rules, if you plan on posting any further. And I'd drop the "shut up" style, in any case. It doesn't really do credit to your intelligence, you know.

What was the topic again?
Oh yeah, where do you get the helm of opposite alignment? I don't remember seeing that.

Hey Kin, some other forms of "flaming" can be picked up the SYM forum. My favorites usually come from Gruntboy.
Now leave, or I shall insult a second time!

Hate to spoil everyones fun, but someone probably should answer the questions.
To Kin Zama, your alignment won't make a difference to how your romance goes. Viconia will only leave if your reputation gets too high. If you keep it below 18 you'll be fine, even though she will complain a bit around 14 and above.
On the other hand, if you've been through the game 18-20 times, you've probably done the Aerie romance or had Anomen in your party at least once, so you're obviously no stranger to whining.
As to where to find the Helm of Opposite Alignment, I think it's like the Cloak of Balduran, you have to bring it with you when you import from BG1.

For even more "circle" fun, try saving some mind control circlets from the astral prison, then after the quest is complete, accept haer dalis into group and make him wear one. The rest of the party turns hostile to haer dalis and frags him!!! hey, the group has spoken, and that annoying gimp got wasted by aerie and others. loot chaos and entropy and give to jan for more fun with dexterity drain.
Hee, hee....
oh yeah, fable, have you heard the news? EA is going to release another sims expansion pack, the sims HOT DATE expansion pack, whereyou controla sim of your choice and setup in your computer the entire date, from pick up to good nite kiss.
True ly sick what those programmers come up with....

I realize this is off-subject, but what can I say? Money talks.

I'm just sorry Interplay hasn't commissioned a followup to BG2 from Bioware. I would've thought their best-selling game this past year talked loudly enough.

You can safely ignore Fable. He has self-confidence issues

I agree completely with fable, whoever he may be. Romance a game character generated by a smelly 300-pound punk sitting in Bioware office sipping CoorsLight and writing lovetalks? Ugh...
You want fun, go watch a movie, hang out with friends. (speaking of movies, I wonder if Harry Potter is good.. guys in Europe watched it yet?) I'm having a LAN party with fifteen people this weekend. We mostly play Counterstrike or sometimes Starcraft, maybe GTA3... anyway. Romance in BG2 was such a bad idea, I think.

Hey, the romance bits don't hurt the game either, you know?

I think they actually add something... if you're in for it. Nobody forces you to pursue them (they're totally optional) and they bring a change from the Diablo style hack-n-slash.
Disclaimer: I've never done any of them.

The way I see it, its a hook to get you to care about your characters in a game. Makes me think of the infamous "ragulin" in the x com games. This guy was in xcom origianl, deep, and apoc. he was always one of the first to bite the dust, cause of his lousy stats, and lots of people spent much effort in making sure even if the rest of a assault team bit it, ragulin made it out alive.
Hmm...I almost feel like taking xcom out of the shelf and giving it another run...nahhh, xcom apoc looks crappy ona 17 inch screen, and besides, I am almost finished with mech warrior 4 black knight...good game.
I mean, the ultimate "care about your characters" computer game, the sims, is getting sickening, and I quite frankly understand the npc fragging some people have done in this forum. I especially think haer dalis should bite the big one, and sometimes jan's stories makes me want to have him attack firkragg solo.

Would the helm in question keep Korgan in the group even if you hit a rep of 19?
hmm if it doesn't the damn thing is useless

If they're going to put romance in a RPG there should be a romance on/off in the game setup to cut down on the !@#%** dialog if your not into it!!!!!!!!!!!

Tor Piland: Just give the mean response for the dialogue, you'll stop the romance and won't get any more dialogues.
