How to defeat Ming?

I tried to kill Ming but she is too strong. What shall I do? Could you give me some tips to destroy her easily. :D

My char is Gangrel male. Strength 5, brawl 4, defense 9, unarmed 9, protean 3, fortitude 2, animal 5, dexterity 2(it's because of body armor). I always use my bare hands for close combat. For ranged combat I use my animalism and seldomly use the guns.

I really like Beckett and he's my idol :cool: If only there's Beckett's ending.

Regardless of what you play, It seems a flame thrower to the face is the quickest most efficiant method. (just besure you have 2 full canistars purchaced once you're ready to go up against the sheriff)

Hold there! Flamethrower? Oh my God! I don't have one. And I already reach the ending's missions (Ming must die, La croix must die), what shall i do? And I'm fighting Ming the KueJin & not Sheriff.

Go back on a save and buy the flamethrower.
You could try and get close in with Ming. Hack at her till a part drops of, scamper away. Kill the part before it grows full size and then generally run around without getting hit until you are back at max health.
Barring you providing the way your character is setup there is not a lot to be added.
And he meant when you go and do the sheriff restock on the flamethrower.

Is the development of my character wrong. I mean, he's powerful enough in unarmed combat plus the protean discipline, he could do enough aggravated damage to the foes. Well, i guess it's still not powerful enough to defeat Ming. :( Flamethrower huh, then I have to go way back. I wonder where can I get one though? :confused: Hmmm, what do you think of my character? The stats are on my first message in this thread. :cool:

Now I'm playing Star Trek Star Fleet Commander 3, because I stuck at Ming for several days now. :D

Before you fight Ming...

Before you go to Chinatown, while in the cab, don't you have several options along the lines of visiting Mercurio in SM, going to the Hollywood supermarket, etc. to buy guns? If you really don't want to go back, you could use something like 'give item_w_flamethrower' in the console. And bloodpacks are great for bringing back life.

Oh, and personally I would have worked on fortitude a bit more... that was the one thing I liked about playing as a ventrue. Dominate really didn't do anything for me... it made persuasion and intimidation a little obsolete. But it looks like your current character would do some serious damage in a brawl... :p

armless

I am a big fan of the portable grill - used it on Ming to great effect.

however, if you concentrate on the head area, unarmed can do her - you need to be careful of the tentacles, but jumping and hitting her from mid-air gets the blows to parts that do real damage - the head and upper torso.

the swords can do her quite well, but the problem is that is you are careless, you end up with Little Mings all over the place through chopping off tentacles.

if you want to finish her off without going back - concentrate on rapid attacks to the head as buffed as you can make yourself.

Killing Ming with Sword

Here's what worked for me.
I got in (and stayed) really close to her, chopping away with my sword. I aimed for the upper tentacles and was able to chop them off leaving Ming helpless. [If you don't stay in close, those tentacles will kill you very quickly. ]Blood Buff protected me from attacks by her spawn while I finished her off. My melée stats were quite high, maybe 6.
I had a flame-thrower and tried many times to kill her using it but once I ran out of fuel I was in trouble. I could never change to another weapon quickly enough but I'm sure it could be done. Combat is not my strong point.
Good Luck!

w

I maxed all my melee skills, and ran around her in circles hitting her back with the bushcutter weapon or watever its called, and tried not to hit or get hit by her tentacles. I forgot to use disciplines, which woudla made it alot easier, but after about 15 tries i finally killed her with about a second of life left, was lucky. Shoulda used disciplines, but thats a good way to kill her, just running around and hitting her back =)

Buy lots and lots of blood.. What worked for me was having as many EV packs as I could carry and then spending the rest of m y hard earned cash on BB packs. Other than that.. Celerity works very well.

and another way

This worked for me (Toreador with all combat stats 6 or 7):
Start with flamethrower (two cannisters), but fairly close by for maximum damage. This should get her bloodbar down by a third to a half.
Close in and stay very close (keep pushing W) and shoot with colt or other high damage gun at point blank range. By keeping very close, she can't use her tentacles effectively (though she still barfs her poison all over you). And I used celerity the whole time and if possible (I'm no ace at mouse & key control) the other two disciplines (auspex & presence).
Even then I still needed the odious chalice for a refill on my life bar, but then to get this far I had to kill quite a few of her minions so it was nicely filled (10 points).
I tried with katana but then you create clones and those will hit you in the back. Blunt instruments (sledgehammer) or fists might also work with this up close and personal technique without creating clones, but I didn't try... yet.

Dude, if you have enough celerity, nothing in the game is a problem. You can avoid anything (you can be even faster than the werewolf you meet) and deal damage at an amazing rate. Melee or range, Ming is a breeze with celerity.

the only ptoblem I had first time playing, becuase my tremere did not have def (I did not put points into WITS, no armor and no bloodbuff was used) but bloodstrike and 1 blood pack solved the problem

the second game was for Malk a hell a lot easier, as I already knew some stuff and discovered some new tricks and quests, but still it was not pusre close combatant, so I used automatick shotgun ( funny thing I 'd say)= almost no problem as well!

third game I had for Brujah= Mink gone to hell without making me any sufficient damage! would make her down even without discipline usage! as she could not do any harm to me
Sheriff I took with this ...khm khm what is its name? ok! 12 bullet pistol/gun. with celerity it is something awesome! like in Holywood movie: you can jump from balcony and turn around while flying down and shoot at the Sheriff. Or while he is jumping on you from downstairs= just WOW!

my Brujah is
wits=4
dodge=5
all disciplines=5
stamina=3
meele=5
charisma=2
scholarship=2+1 ( from beccket)
browl=2+1 ( from Nines)

After driving myself insame trying to kill Ming, the way I did it was this: Crouch (yes, crouch) and stay right under her belly - this way her acid breath and tentacles can't get you. Keep pressing W so she literally shelters you from herself. Then flamethrow or machine gun her face from there and just empty every gun you have at her snout till she dies. If you use a gun too you have less chance of chopping her arms off and making 'babies'...

I was a Toreador, and I just used the skill "Celerity" where you get faster, and then i ran around and shot her, because i didn't have more than 1 can to my flamethrower (and i only had 2 bags of normal blood)... but shootning her is the easiest way; if you get too close, or stand still for too long, you quickly loose a great amount of health...
and don't forget to kill her "offspring" while they are small!

I had a similar experience, except that I just crouched in a corner, and steadily shot at her face. I only had a partial cannister for the flamethrower, so I started out emptying that in her face, then switched to guns. She gets in this very predictable weaving pattern, and you want to shoot her at a certain point when you know her head will be up higher, to avoid shooting any limbs off.

While I don't disagree that Celerity makes your PC's life easier, it is not the bonanza you make it out to be for those such as I, who don't have good mouse & key control. Sometimes the only thing that Celerity does for me, is making my PC run into obstacles such as walls, pillars and, once, a brazier, at a higher speed. But to be honest, I'm the type of guy that sometimes has to redo his Ctrl+Alt+Del when logging into Windows.

That's one of the reasons that VtM and other such RPG's as Morrowind are as far as I venture into Actiongameland (being more of a Myst or Syberia type of game player). I hate it when my own clumsiness gets in the way of the enjoyment of the game.

Hence the suggestion of a solution which does not require much dexterity on the player's part.

I struggled to kill Ming for a few days too. None of the threads posted were helping (sorry guys). In the end a stroke of luck did the trick. When I was running round the room, jumping tentacles, I landed in the top left hand corner of the room, behind one of the pots of fire, and crouched. From there, Ming could not reach me with her tentacle, as it kept hitting the corner of the wall next to me. From here I could keep firing my ammo, and boosted my health bar to full - never needed to use any blood packs, and didn't hack off any offspring either. It was very quick and easy to do, but it must be the correct corner. Its worth a try!

One time, I ran to the little coign at the PCs immediate left, and encountered the same thing. As long as I stayed near the fire-pot, I was golden, and I offed Ming easily. Trying the same thing a second time didn't work as well, though. I'm not sure if the fire-pots work all the time. I think it has less to do with where you are than it has to do with what Ming's top-right tentacle will hit. That's the one that always gets me. I'm still searching for the perfect place, like the table in King's Way. If you're on it, you're always good. I suspect there is a similar place in Ming's lair.
