Okay folks, i have mlb 2k5 in my hot little hands (well not literally, because i'm typing right now) and after playing it for a day or so, i'm here to report my findings.

i have to admit I had high hopes for this game due to the declining quality of mvp (don't get me started). As such i kinda put all my baseball egs into one basket with 2k5.

and I'm very pleased to report that I picked the right basket, because so far mlb 2k5 is pretty much exactly what i was looking for in a baseball game. Good upgrades (they fixed the pitching) and cool additions like the new baserunning feature make for a good time in front of the x-box in my opinion. Also the customizable features are fun, though I've only dug into the them a little.

But for me the biggest draw of 2k5 is the actual gameplay. I'm a stickler for realism and I had my fingers crossed (tight) for 2k5 to excell in this area. And oh my- yes they do. I was amazed at just how real the gameplay feels, everything from the movement of the players to the ruffling of the uniforms to even the shadows, etc. In terms of realism, i have to take my hat off to 2k5, because damn, it really delivers.

long story short, 2k5 is pretty much exactly what I was hoping for. Looks good, plays good, has lots of nice options and will almost certainly keep me (and my x-box) busy for the next few weeks.

first of all, baseball eggs are delicious.

secondly, i bought MLB2k5 and MVP and i've played around with both (yesterday was not very productive). anyway, i'm not so impressed with MVP. it has some nice aspects, but in general it's not much of an improvement over last year. i'll give it some more time, but i don't think i'll start liking it.

MLB is a different case. it's better than last years espn game, and it looks and plays great. the new control additions made me very happy, and i just get more enjoyment out of playing this one.

you know, it's really fun. i used to get a little too serious about sports games, but i had an attitude adjustment and all i want is a really good game that's fun and easy on the eyes. 2k5 is the one.

I rented both and I loved MVP baseball. Especially the aspect of the hitters eye!

the baserunning system in mlb2k5 makes more sense.
