I am in chapter 2, but when i enter Umar hills, the games crashes during loading the map . I hav applied the patch, lowered the configurations to least, but to no avail. any recommendations ?? as a number of quests require a trip to umar hills or can i skip it and continue with bodhi....

Now i cant specifically remmbr if i had skipd any files during installations .. if so can anybody tell me wat files i hav to place/replace or re installation :(

Well, you can easily complete the game without doing the Umar Hills, but you'll miss out on one of the large side-quests in the game (the ones that take you outside the city, there aren't a lot of those around), a ton of experience, some great items and the chance to enlist Valygar in your party. Who will give you access to ANOTHER large side quest in the game.

Edit: I don't know what could be causing your problem, I'm sorry. :(

Try exiting the game, and deleting the contents of your BG2 cache folder. Then try entering the area, again. Might help.

Not an answer, just a similar problem, I'm afraid. Trying to visit the Umar Hills, when it loads I am prompted to insert CD3, even though I've done a full install for ToB. When CD3 is inserted, it gets spat out again and I am asked to insert CD3.

Have tried emptying cache, to no avail. Any other ideas?

thanks.

EDIT: found a patch specifically for this; maybe it will also answer your question: http://www.gamebanshee.com/forums/showpost.php?p=569142&postcount=2

Sounds like data corruption, then.

You could try moving your savegame folder, deinstalling and reinstalling the game, then move your savegame folder back.

Just because I'm a moderator in this forum and have played through the game a couple of times doesn't mean I know more than some people who have played this game endlessly. So let's keep the questions open to all.

The modders have made it very clear in this forum: the order of installation is important. As to whether you'd need to reinstall 'em the same way you did, before, perhaps you'd better post that order. If you don't remember it, you made it a mistake, but I'm sure one of the modders or a person who has used most of 'em repeatedly can provide good advice on the proper loading order.

There's a companion you'll definitely want for your party, since he's important for access to a major quest, elsewhere. There's also a major quest in the Hills, themselves, a few attractive items, and at least one upgradeable one.
