Ode to Fable

I have a request for the almighty Buck who watcheth from the skies, I would like it if there were different titles for differing amounts of posts. In recognition to those who have earned it of course (especially to Fable who has the most posts and who I think earns it ;) ), hope this doesn't come off sounding too bad :o

Yours appreciatively, Oozae

We've actually discussed things like this multiple times, with each time coming to the conclusion: The idea of additional titles for members is frivelous practice, and in some cases, would only encourage useless spam to flood the boards. As such, unique titles were offered temporarily during a time in which members clould subscribe to GB, but aside from that, but that has long since stopped.

I think the ability to add your own custom sig is good enough. If we didn't have that then I would say it would be something more interesting to look into. You can just throw essentially anything you want within reason at the bottom of your post though, and change it at will. That's far superior to a little title I have to say.

And last but not least, since this is an Ode to Fable,
Fable is a mod, so his title would stay Moderator, what other title could beat that!

And here I was thinking you'd written a song to outline fable's greatness and magnificence... I feel gypped. ;)

Come now, bard oozae, write us a melody to denounce fable's wonderfulness.

Cheers,
TGHO

Titles?

I don't really understand the title situation- I have been visiting GameBanshee for years, and I guess I always assumed people got titles based upon # of posts or something like that. For a while you had to subscribe to see GameBanshee (2002, right?), so I stopped coming, then I checked back recently and you didn't have to pay, so I joined, now I have spare time at work so I reply... what I am really trying to get at is how does anyone get a title other than "Member" (or "Moderator" obviously). There's more than just "Exalted Member", right- isn't someone "Twisted Sister"? Actually, you could really have some fun with this if you wanted to- you could be "Ubermember" or "Almost as cool as Buck (or Fable)", or anything else.

But seriously folks... what's the deal with titles?

Furthermore, why am I the only person who isn't a moderater/exalted member to reply to this thread? I guess I'm preaching to the wrong choir, huh? :D

You didn't have to subscribe to Game Banshee to see and post in the forums. The subscription just applied to viewing the game walkthroughs.
Regarding the titles:
member: somebody who has less than 50 posts
exalted member: 50 posts +
Twisted Sister: a title a few of us adopted during the subscription era. It was a perk for subscribing to Game Banshee ;)

Personally, I don't think it would be a problem to allow members to choose their titles, along with signatures, providing that certain guidelines on length and content were followed. As it stands now, the fact that I and several other people have a custom title is not really fair. However, I am not volunteering to give it up either, I just think everybody should have the option :)

I actually couldn't post at that point in time because I was living in Spain and didn't have an internet connection available easily; I was at internet cafes, checking e-mail and walkthroughs, because I had just discovered BGII. Sometime while I was in Spain, you had to subscribe to GameBanshee to see the walkthroughs and I thought that was the end of my time here. However, I checked back a while ago (looking for a review of Fable, actually), saw things had changed, started looking at the BGII forums, and here I am a 2:00 pm on a Friday, writing a post instead of working. Good times! :D

Man I love Spain!!!
But anyway, Yeah I think others should have a say in thier titles, Unlike the other Forums that just give you a title, like gamershell, I hate that place; My title was that I still wore nappies!
But Exalted member and member are better than the other dumb things other sites give you.

*Sits in a corner with his lute* Ahem, ladies and gents. Bard Adahn's gonna sing all of ye the Ode to Fable!

Oh Fable, Fable thou words are gold,
They ring me like leaflets of old...

Whenever you enter,
a spam-ridden thread,
there's silence, there's quiet
form all those who tred.

Oh your wisdom is bold,
and though you're old,
it's not cold and we're inspired...
to follow...that code.

Oh Fable, our comrade,
let's sing you a song,
and see, and hope
that you don't, sing along.

You gave us some advice,
which in turn saved our lives.
And we only... wish
to unwrap your vines.

*coughs* Thank you! Thank you!
