Strange Troll Death

My Revenge of Mask party has reached the goblin fortress. In the underground caverns (2nd level), there are two trolls near the beatle cage. I was able to kill both without fire or acid. How was I able to do that? My game is in normal mode, normal difficulty. No fire or acid was used at any time during the fight. I also want to add that these were the normal trolls, not hardened ice or fire trolls.
The first was killed by a critical strike while stunned. The critical was from the "Dredging Claw" halberd. The stun was from Gedlee's Electric Loop.
The second was killed by sneak attack damage. (level 1 rogue/level 4 fighter hitting from behind).
Would any of these things cause a troll to die? Was it a fluke? I have cleared the goblin fortress with many many parties and never killed a troll without fire or acid.

There's no problem with that, I also killed some trolls withe simple or non-fire weapons only. I can't recall for sure but I strongly suspect that all of them were finished by a critical hit...
So, it's possible
I've encountered the opposite, also: outside Limha's tent I was trying to kill a troll (last of the attackers). It didn't make any attempt to attack me, just stood there, and absorbed about five fireballs, five burning hands, five acid arrows, several hits from flame baldes and fire maces... It took at least 1000 damage and still didn't want to die

yeah there seems to be a little bug. I stunned a troll with Chromatic Orb and beat the living #### out of it. I also did about 1000 damage but nothing happened until the stun was over and the troll dropped to the ground and I was able to kill it with fire. I tried it again later and it seems to work every time. So if you don't want to wait for stun to end to get to kill a troll, don't stun them

Yeah, I should've kept this in mind...
I'm outside of Limha's tent again, and stunned the troll (come on, I had to, it's a shaman, I didn't want him to cast spells), and exactly the same thing happens... Strange that the patch doesn't fix this...

I don't think so that it happens in other cases cause trolls are supposed to drop to the ground before they can be killed with fire or acid. I had one experience with this thing (spoiler) in Ice Temple when I was supposed to kill Lysara Dais. She is supposed to speak one line before she is killed so when I used Chromatic Orb again and tried to pound her to death with my mighty sharp Greataxes
she just stood there paralyzed and took the blows as they cam one after other.. seemed like forever.. my deep gnome warriors started to get blisters on their little chubby fingers when finally she came out of the paralyzation and said her last words and took her last dying breath.. okay my story got a little out of hand but anyways that's what happened. Great fun to have these random punchbags for practice once in awhile

(I'm a bit tired today so that's why the crazy writing.. sorry)

hmm.. probably unrealted bug.. but then i've encountered (two) snow troll shamans before that do not die with fire or acid. they fall after taking enough damage, then neither burning hand/melf's acid arrow/flaming potions will kill the thing. they regen, rise, get KO, and then they refuse to die again. twice i then use disentigrate to wipe them off the map....

I think ice trolls can be killed by normal damage. Also, don't forget that if you use a fire spell on a troll, they take damage even when they don't drop to the ground. I've played the game about 12 times and i have never had to use fire or acid on ice or fire trolls. It is a good bet that since they have the fire or ice subtype that they take double damage from their opposite element and are immune to the same element as their subtype, which means that fire spells do not affect fire trolls at all.
