Welcome dear senator to the newly created SYMISTAN. We are a nation located in the very heart of Asia with a border with the caspian and black sea (which is our corridor for exports via water). To our south are the troublesome nations of Georgia, Ukraine and Kazhastan. We have been fighting a civil war for nearly 15 years and finally has come to an end. We are a large country rich in some mineral resources but basically a Least Developed country due to the civil war.

Map of SYMISTAN is attached - Ik911 made it

We have had problems with rebels from Chechnya, Ingusetia and the other smaller countries whose war has spilled over into our nation and burned it for 15 years. We are an ethnically diverse nation as well as religiously diverse.
Our demographics are 30% Muslim. 40% Russian Orthodox. 10% Christian (various divisions). 20% No religious definition. Ethnically the majority with 60% are slavic making up the christain and russian orthodox majorities. The muslims are a mixture of various different races. Aryan, Arab, Persian and chinese with no racial homogenity.

Our economy is completely agriculture based, luckily we have two seas to provide us with a water source and 4 major rivers. However due to the war we have absolutely no irrigation or industrial complexes left. The economy reflects the peasant farms of 11th century Europe.

There are 3 major political parties left each with their own military units and political wills. They are divided into the Muslims who want a seperate nation. The Communist who ruled SYMISTAN before the fall. The slavs who wish for a democractic western government and lastly the fringe group of terrorists who wish to convert SYMISTAN into another Chechnya.

We represent the different groups of SYMISTAN and are the newly formed government. There are a total of 60 members of the senate which we comprise. Our population is now only 7 million people due to the war and we have no financial assets. A large amount of guns and no economic base.

It is our objective dear members of the senate to resort glory to SYMISTAN. We are a large nation with many natural resources. We are the 5th largest nation in Asia phsyically and thus must claim our right to be a regional power and make our mark on the world.

The economy as by the CIA World FactBook:

SYMISTAN, an highly impoverished and underdeveloped country, has suffered from decades of civil war, no foreign investment, and a costly, ongoing confrontation with a majority of its smaller nations. It has the ambition of being a regional power and wishes to rival its former master Russia in the region. However, recently the country has reached a peace agreement brokered by Norway with the help of the EU. There is no government and very much resembles Iraq and Afghanistan in its government structure ie there is none. It is a bankrupt country with no major industry with the exception of agriculture. It has no forigen curreny reserves (called FOREX for those who don't know) and seriously needs cash. The EU has stated if a govt is formed and a parliament convened, they will provide aid in the form of grants (Grants unlike other forms of aid have no interest are not to be paid back).

Natural Resources:
1. Some oil not sure how much or how many sites are untapped. Located in Muslim dominated areas and thus a very big issue.
2. Gas located all over the country extremely abundant but untapped.
3. Coal some mines from the Soviet era. Enough supplies and qualities to export.
4. No gold or precious gems at all in the country.

There are 4 major rivers that criss cross the country making it fertile ground for agriculture and hydropower dams. We would need funding from the World Bank for such projects.

Telephone systems - none.
Electricity - none.
Water access - pathetic even with the rivers there is no managed water system

Cities - Only one. Buckville. No other cities at all. 94% rural population.

natural ports locations 9 total. 5 On Black sea - 4 on caspain sea.

The Terrorists There are two elements within this group. They are the locals and the foriegners. The locals mainly consist of muslims who have been "reborn" into the faith and demand an Islamic government with Shariah law implemented for all. The foriegners agree with this and have active links with Al Qaeda and its fringe groups. Due to the importance of the country and its location, Al Qaeda have decided that if SYMISTAN were to be a hardline muslim nation, Chechnya, Ingusetia and other such countries could easily fall under its sway and give the terrorists a haven like Afghanistan and a country to support them. Thus they have sent nearly 2000 armed and trained terrorists in the country to make sure that Islamic rule prevails.

Additionally they have set up camps and are training the locals. That is the only reason they are even considered part of the political make up. They have money, power and guns. They have set up mosts in the south eastern side of the country near Chechnya and the Caspian sea. They have a deep hatred for Russia, the EU and the US. They want the Muslim world to support them but they have got little recognition for their efforts.

The Muslim seperatists - Al Zulfiqar (the name of the political party) Az started off as a Hamas like entity. Firstly very much a militant organization established by many angry youths of SYMISTAN in 1989. It followed the tactics of Hamas, Hizbollah and Islamic Jihad it is desire for independence. They were trained by these organizations as well as by the Pakistani Govt in the 80s during its fight against the Soviets. The US wished to seperate SYMISTAN as well as Afghanistan, but that plan fell through due to lack of funding and victory in Afghanistan. Thus the Radicals of AZ decided to do it for themselves. These men and women set up charties and schools during the 15 year civil war and built up a grass roots political following.

At the the same time there was a desire to capitalize on the name of being "Muslims". The old guard are mainly influential people from the 1980s rulership of SYMISTAN but hated communist rule. The old guard of SYMISTAN is not religious at all and only uses the name to propogate its own power and wealth for the leaders. They had the money and power AZ needed to make themselves heard. Thus they formed this unholy alliance which is weak and very very fragile.

The third sub group is that of the hardline conservatives that desire an Islamic government with Shariah law. They are ideologically closely linked to that of the Terrorists however they have joined an Islamic Group known world wide as Hizb-ul-Tahrir or HT. They state that the entire world must come under islamic rule and that it will happen soon.

So far the Terrorists have 2 subgroups and the Muslims 3 sub groups. These rougly represnent 33% of the political power in SYMISTAN. But they are considered one political entity in the game.

The Communists This party now consists of 5 distinct groups. The first and most powerful in the party but lack any political power on the streets are the former communist leaders. They are headed by a man who joined the Communist part when Stalin was in power. (He is close to 78 years old now). He is the oldest surviving leader of the kremlin and fulfills every stereotype of the cold war. Ruthless, vicious and to quote Bush evil. He heads the political power of the Communist party and has 20 men who serve him with devotion. They all are former communist leaders from the 70s and 80s.

The next order is that what is left of the military and KGB. Due to Putin extreme popularity in the area, these men and women feel they could gain more power and popularity and some have the genuine desire to help the people. Some wish to restore the glory of the Soviet Union and some just want to amass power and wealth.

The third level is your common civil servant who lost his job during the fall of the Soviet union. He wants his job back and more political power. Again you can play this as you want. A good hard working man or a cunning power hungry meglomaniac. I leave this zone open to you guys.

The fourth consists of socialists who want a European model of a welfare state. They only joined the communists in a political alliance to gain popularity and to get into the elections. The Demos in their point of view are to "american" or anglosaxon to be any good for the country.

The last is your common worker party. This basically won't be in the senate. Labour party reps and stuff like that. Basically these would be considered your henchmen. Or say the man who led the Polish revolution against the Soviets. That type of man.

The Democracts: The most powerful group in terms of economic power but with no grass roots power are the SYMIAN who have come back to SYMISTAN after the collapse of the Soviet Union. They have money due to living in the west and have come back to form their own party and basically forge the country they want. They have money, power and connections in the west. They are described as puppet leaders by some and heros by others. Some are pandering to more US influence in the area and some wish to follow a EU model.

The second are the political dissidents who were imprisioned during communist rule. These men and women are extremely popular but suffer from alot of liabilities like the lack of money, political training and backing from the west. They want a democractic country and each differs on the form of government.

The third are the former communists and military men who sided with the West in their years of services. These were spys, double agents, informers and the like at the highest level of power and position. This would where i would personally place Vicusn in his very odd desire of a character

The fourth and last group are the youth. Radically democractic with no experience. They want instance change without a look at the consequences. I leave this open for others to look at
