Just thought id post to let you know (if you didnt already),
that if you listen to the in game speech files while not in the game, the game will crash when you reach the part of a converstaion where that file is needed.
This doesn't count for music files so dont worry.
An easy solution to this problem is simply reinstalling the game. Dont forget to backup your character though!

I already listened to all the speech files and nothing ever crashed on me when the same wave file played while ingame. Make sure you got no software installed corrupting the files as you listen to them.

Please help..

Hi, Thank you for posting this thread it was useful. I have experienced this problem, and I was just wondering if there is any way that I can save my current position in the game and my character? So that I don't lose everything when I reinstall the game.

You could try this: copy the map "SAVE" to another directory or copy somewhere else. And when you reinstalled the game just copy the map "SAVE" back again, then click "yes" to overwrite it. Good luck.

Go to My Computer -> Local Disk (C) (or whatever your harddrive is called) -> Program Files -> Activision -> Vampire-Bloodlines -> Vampire then copy the save folder to somewhere like my documents. Reinstall and repatch the game, then if your saves are no longer there, just simply copy the save folder back to the Vampire folder.

The problems with listening to sound files only crops up with Mediaplayer IIRC. I didn't have problems with some other programs.

I've had it with Windows Media Player as well, but Lestat is correct - whether or not the problem occurs depends on what kind of player you are using.

I've heard tell that if you simply clear the playlists of whatever player is causing the problem, the problem will go away without a re-install, but I've never actually tested the theory myself.
