Can someone please enlighten me about Imoen...

Fellow gamers, I'm currently in Asylum Dungeon and I have a big doubt: what is the advantage of keeping Imoen. Compared with my party she is very weak and doesn't match for anyone that I currently have. My question is, if I leave her do I missi something very important (interisting plots, experience, etc). I ask this because, being the major NPC in terms of plot, I'm afraid of letting her go and miss some important part of the plot.
Thanks already for anyone who might help me...

If you're roleplaying and a nice sort of guy/gal, of course you'll want to pick up Imoen again: after all, she's your sister!
If you don't do many of the chapter 2 quests, her level will be more in accord with your party; and in that case, I've dropped off Jan in the past and taken her on. But if you do a lot of chapter 2 quests, she will be behind. If you're evil, be pragmatic, be mendacious, be nasty! Say goodbye to Sis.

I have never once used Imoen in my party. I just feel she is a waste of party space...

I kept her because since leaving Spellhold I was short a trap-detector. I had me (elf ranger), Minsc, Jahiera, Imoen, Aerie, and Nalia.
Depending on your playing style, she can be a liability. However, with my party composition, I found that she came in very handy as my #2 mage. If you save a couple of Chapter 2 quests until Chapter 6, she can gain a little ground. Also, in another cheesy way to beef up her XP, dismiss everyone in from your party except her and then scribe a bunch of scrolls. That way she only splits the XP two ways instead of 6.
By the time you get to ToB, she will only be three or so levels behind Nalia and/or Edwin and an extra Dragon's Breath or Comet comes in very handy.

Well if you call a pure (I mean not multi) mage with good hit points, thief abilities, able to use bows and crossbows and thief only items (very good stuff in ToB) a waste of party space, then I recomend you try playing SoA while sober...

Whats sober"
Actually, if you read through idiots vs brainers (my little gem) you'll learn I like the blockhead method of playing. I beat things over the skull with frying pans until they stop moving. Magic is just a mere incovience for me.

OK, fair enough...
Sober= not drunk (unless I`m crossing my spanish again, I sometimes use, unwillingly, a pretty annoying spanglish...)

Actually She's not such a liabilty. Many of you may think I'm stupid or something but I traded her for Minsc. Right now I'm in Underdark and I have in my party: GEorGE (Inquisitor), Korgan, Jaheira, Yoshimo, Nalia and Imoen. Nalia is a level 16 mage while Imoen is only 13. But so far I haven't ran into any trouble. I just keep her in the back with a bow and other just whack the bad guys and when I meet some magic users, then so far they haven't been a problem to me, since my inquisitor has magic resistance 60% (tnx to Carsomyr & some necklace), which leaves his saving throws vs. spells to 0 (-5), vs. wands -1(-5), vs. death -3(-5), vs. petrify -2(-5) and vs. breath -3(-5) and also he has the cloak of mirroring on him, so magic users don't seem to be much of a problem, because I just send my inquisitor in front (boots of speed are helpful at that) and they just waste their spells on him and after that the rest of the team (sweepers
) follow him. So my point is that she's not much of a liability, because I do the main work with just my protagonist and Yoshimo. And also I think she has the best voice in the game
.
NB! sry, made a little mistake. My protagonist is a Cavalier, not an Inquisitor

I'm saying she's a liability. I'm saying she is useless, IMO. I already have a Mage/Theif that can cast the spells I need, and detect and disarm the traps I find.

Well in that case in my party Jaheira and Korgan are also liabilities, because I kill people who stand alone with Yoshimo, people who are in masses with my protagonist and area effect spells and that's pretty much all of the game. I only need them sometimes to clean up, carry my stuff around
and also when my protagonist falls a bit too low on hit points.

From a role playing perspective, I'd put her in the party because she's the PC's sister. You could kill her if you're evil, though. Eliminate the competition for the throne.

Wait - am I missing something? How do you have Yoshimo in Underdark?

There are ways to bypass the code intended by the developers to force Yoshimo's death. Can't say I've used 'em.
