I don't know if this is the same for everyone, but I've noticed it on my game. If you save just before you leave or enter someplace( that requires a load), the game is more likely to freeze  .

That makes sense... there is a loading spike when you load a game, and there is a loading spike when you change area. If you run software intercepting read or write operations, like virus scanners then the file will still be locked from the scan and the game will freeze.

It can happen with every game, every software, depending on how well it is optimized concerning read and write operations and the caching of those. And, in the good old days it happened if the hard disk simply was too slow to handle two loading spikes in a short interval.

what do you mean with "freeze"?

that the system crashes?
i always got the problem of getting a crash if i dont save before changing area.

like the game knows when it should crash so it can piss me off :P

On my PC, KOTOR2 loads and saves games so much faster than KOTOR ever did that I think that they wrote some better read/write caching into the routines. This might conflict with some aggressive virus software.

I'm not really sure about PC( I have it for XBOX). But by freeze I mean It just stops loading.

Hmm... that only happens to me when I alt-tab too much. Or even once. If I alt-tab once, I'd better restart my game or I know it will freeze in a loading screen within 10 minutes.

I've learned to make sure that crap isn't running in the background, don't try to alt-tab back and forth from games, and keep the game software updated. Reboot if things get freaky.

I was going through KOTOR1 again last night and forgot to turn off Norton. It went into full system scan mode in the background and freaked the whole game out. Icon graphics turned white. Reboot time. Didn't even bother to save the game at that point because I know from experience that it will be ruined anyways.
