It sounds like fun, but there could be some difficulties.

If the NPC's are forced into choosing, they could try to get out of it; leave town or something. This provides a risk to your campain.

This story sounds like it has various ways of ending, so if you have a specific ending in mind, it could be hard to steer your characters. Especially if they are evil.

no the end is the same for both gangs and it is to dangerous to leave the city with three major enemies behind (2 gangs and the city guard)

Gang wars...

A common theme, actually. Without knowing more, it would be hard to offer a valid opinion. What are the gangs fighting for? Is it just control of the city, or is there something else? In the Greyhawk novels, part of the storyline involved a conflict between the beggers' guild and the thieves' guild. How far have you taken the plot line? You could have it as two rival religions. The possibilities are endless...and they don't have to be evil.

The only problem that I can see is that you are essentially pigeon-holing the PCs into one of two options. As a DM, whenever I have done that my groups have always thought of something I never imagined and then tried to solve the problem that way. I was stuck either forcing them back into one of the two plotlines I originally outlined, or shooting completely from the hip. I guess my only caution would be against keeping any outcome too rigid.

Sounds like fun. And by "fun" I mean "railroading".

@medina_bard

Mr Weasel is right, when posting, the use of captal letters, dots, comma's and such make a post more readable. I encourage you to use them, thanks.
