Beats Kotor II eh?
lol just kidding - I'll try it out then thx for the info appreciate it
Actually, while I enjoyed KoTOR2, Bloodlines is a much more complete game than it. I enjoyed it much more, as well.
Bloodlines is not really like Redemption. Redemption is a third person perspective, party driven game. The central storyline is linear, there are no side quests or alternative routes around anything. Bloodlines shares a vampire mythology, and that's about it as far as the similarities are concerned.
Bloodlines is, in short, a much better game than Redemption. You play as a newly created vampire of one of your choice of clans (each of which has individual strengths, and there are story elements or dialogues that occur specific to your clan in places. The Malkavians are the most obvious example of this.). The perspective is single person, though you can switch between melee (which has a more third person angle) and FPS modes. The game uses the Half Life 2 enginge effectively, and combat is generally pretty enjoyable and versatile. Vampire disciplines are dealthwith effectively as well, so that adds another dimension to the game's combat system. There are not as many disciplines that your individual character has access to like Redemption. However, only being able to master three disciplines gives the game replay value for experimentation purposes. More importantly, most of the disciplines are very well done (and much more useful than your average Redemption discipline).
In terms of story, Bloodlines is much darker than Redemption, and is less linear. Bloodlines has a variety of side quests and different paths (whether it be stealth, combat, conversation/seduction) you can take to solve many quests. So it's not as hack and slash as Redemption.
Bloodlines, unlike Redemption, is spooky and even frightening in places. It's difficult for many of us to play the "Ocean House" without getting nervous. Likewise, most of the environments are carefully constructed and entertaining. Nothing feels repeated, or uninteresting.
It's a very good game. If you're looking for a Redemption or KoToR clone you'll be quite dissappointed. But if you're looking for a unique RPG experience and have any love for the vampire genre, you'll enjoy this game.
