stuck in the resevoirs

I cant make it out of the sewer, I flood the resevoir and make a mad dash but always get sucked back. Ive tried 20 times already.

this is the nosferato warrens quest in hollywood.
Blood buff doesn't work for this? strange as swimming requires strength one would think.

This is really peeving me off and the hints indicate a mad dash is the only way out?

I don't know if I did it right but I found when I filled the reseviors, I also had to make sure the fan was on. If the fan was off the tank was empty. I used both the computer in the locked room and the switch on the pumps. It was a hard swim and took a few minutes but I fought my way back up that long tunnel and turned to the right. thats the way out.

Actually you're doing it right, it's just a matter of timing. If you have celerity try that other wise it's just a matter of saving seconds where you can. The second you press the button run along the gantry and jump straight into the water.

Sorry- it looks like I've disagreed with Mavrik, I don't -try his sugestions too!

After trying more than a dozen times, I came here for help and found out about the timing issue. Armed with that knowledge I tried about a few dozen more times before finally cheating with the no_clip cheat. The timing is too unforgiving, there needs to be a patch that gives an additional second or two of latitude.

How do you use noclip? Do you turn the fan on, and then noclip through the wall of the tunnel or can you swim in while the water is down and noclip into the next level anyway? I hate this part of the game it is SOOOO frustrating!!

It can be frustrating but what I hated was the point where you have to jump up over two steel paddles to a shaft above it. It was by accident when trying to set the nearby barrels to the fans that I realised if you hit the fan with the barrel, the fan stops lol.

But I did manage swimming against the current. Its also possible your stats decide how difficult to impossible it is to swim against the current. But I don't really know..

timing

switch the tanks then save the game - hit the switch from as far away as possible then jump over the railing into the water just before the grating that covers the outflow then as soon as you hit the water keep moving towards the fan, then hang right when you get there.
You'd think buffing strength would help, but it doesn't seem to and celerity saves less time than it takes to come into effect ; it throws you off your rhythm with the switch/turn/run/jump/swim.

it is simply timing - don't cheat, master the game.

I really tried to master this sequence, but 100% of the time, I would land on top of the railing when I was trying to jump over it. That pause always added one second to my time, a second that I couldn't afford. On two attempts, I got partway into the T-intersection just as the fans started to push me back. I never got farther than that without the no_clip cheat.

I did make it in only 5 more tries. Maybe I got lucky.

I was able to make it into the reservoir with no problem, but for some reason, when I got there, it wasn't flooded, making it impossible to get to the opening at the top. Irritated, I'd swim back, and, just to spite me, the little red lights shined indicating that the tanks were indeed flooded. Why is this?

I don't know why you guys are having so much trouble with this... I just flip the switch, wait for the tank to empty, then flip it and run like hell off the ledge and straight into the water. That's it... and I never have a problem. Are you guys going down the ladder or something?

A agree with Judaeus... I just turn off the electricity in the power room, flip the switch, and run like hell! I've never had to try twice, always get it the first time. (WITHOUT using any disciplines.)

Without meaning to repeat the obvious...

Judaeus is correct. The timing is no joke, I'll tell you that right up front. If you stop once to smell the roses, save yourself the trip, wait for everything to reset, and try again.

Second, I've never tried it with the computer. I just use the manual controls.

Third, as Spiderspag notes, tuirn off the electricity from the switch in the utility room. You don't have any time to waste - not even with mental distractions.

After that, empty the tanks. When you've done that, do what I do. I pause the game, get up, walk around, stretch, flex my fingers, clear my head and go back. You need your wits about you and your fingers limber. Then hit the switch, jump the rail and swim for it.

If I haven't played for several months, I might have to try two or three times to get the timing just right, but if I play regularly, I can do it first time, everytime. By the fastest possible route, though, you just barely have enough time to make the turn. If you snooze, you lose.

A tip for jumping over the railings. Run towards the railings, then jump. And as soon as you've done this, hit the crouch. This will effectively make your character jump as high as when standing (yes you have a greater max jump height standing) but your character is shorter, allowing your feet to clear the rails. Your forward speed is equal to your run speed seeing as you ran before the jump. Do this at approx 45 degree to the rail... (if you do a 180 degree turn after flipping the switch, then you'd get approx 45 degree face to the rail) and this should land you on the grate, where you need to backstep abit before falling into the water.

Once there, the rest suggested... swim as fast as you can, and hang right when you near the junction. Even when the fan starts pushing you back, continue to swim rightwards and you might still chance it.

As to Celerity, activate it before pulling the switch. With 2-3 ranks losing that 1-2 seconds should not matter at all.

Is there any simple way to make video replay? If yes, I could show how it's done, actually this part is really easy. Well it was difficult the first few times, like two or three... but 20? You definitely do somethin wrong... Now I can make it from the first try always, nothing complicated at all. Well ofcourse I don't stop to smell roses or enjoy landscapes on the way, but I don't need any special efforts. Just go-jump-swim like everywhere else. You can jump directly into water, you can jump a level down and then into water... doesnt matter.

I did it the second or third time.

I was pretty sloppy about it and it seems like it took me forever to jump in the water. I ran from the fan switch to the end of the platform. Fumbled with the keayboard and finaly jumped onto the grate in the pool. I then jumped into the water and started to swim. By all accounts that should have been it.

But I noticed as I held the w key down to swim forward I made a slight amount of forward progress. I was pushed back, but if I kept the key down I then moved ahead slightly so there was a slight net forward progress. I just kept the w key down until I got to pipe intersection, made a right turn, and made it. I think it took about seven or eight minutes to do this.

You could try using FRAPS - Google for it. You'd better have a little extra horsepower, though, because recording the game while you're playing it might slow things down enough to throw off your timing.

Thank you, I already have Fraps but haven't try it yet.
