Questions after The End (sp, of course)

I have completed the game for the 3-rd time last night, and it was the first time after I installed the patch.
The last battle was SOOOOOO easy! Irenicus and all his henchmes could not slay any of my party members! This is really sucks!
I want some challenge in the last battle! Even Kangaax harmed me more then this last boss!
Surely, you could say: "Set a higher difficulty level", but hey! I don't want to mess with those stupid "core rules" - it is when you need to reload a lot (on level-up to get HP, on Spell Learning, and if your party member gets desintegrated). Imho, those core rules kill all fun in the game.
But, may be, it's just me...
So now after completion I have thought of 2 things (don't know why I didn't think of them earlier):
1. Who are those guys in robes, who I can see in the last cinematic? They say something like "Bla-bla! Gorion's ward have become too powerful!"
If I remember correctly, I never met those guys in ToB.
2. Why I can not revive my character? I meen, if any other party member dies, I can easily revive them with single spell, but when protaginest dies - it is "game over". Sounds stupid to me...
The possible answer is this: My char is a BhaalSpawn and when he dies, his essence returns to the Throne of Bhaal, so he "dies forever" (Just like Sarevok).
But then another question appeares: Imoen is BhaalSpawn too, and I can revive her without any troubles.
I really have no idea about that stuff...

1. Those guys in the black robes are the keepers of the Bhaal esence. They decide what occurs and watch it from afar. (or at least that's what I think)
2. Yes, it is a very weird thing that you can't revive yourself. I believe the answer is that your party members would be confused and indecisive about what would happen if you died. They would all split up and wouldn't have any idea what to do (or at least that's what I reckon
)

So robed guys are some "secretive keepers" who never appear in the game, and all my party members are SOOO stupid, that they can do nothing without me?

1: If memory serves, then they are of no importance at all. They were made before they knew how ToB would be and no, they're not "the five" or something like that. They were just there for a mighty ending-scene, I think.
2: Technically, you should be able to revive as much as you'd like (or maybe it's just Immy that has that ability), but they couldn't make the game that way because there are a lot of triggered scenes that *has* to involve your main character. So if you came to one of those and your character were dead, it would bug away or you'd miss out on some important stuff or something like that.

Just thinking about how they'd act gave me a smile. Edwin would probably complain about the main char being a wossy and getting himself killed, but in a language no one else understood, Viconia would complain about the lesser strenght of males (in case mainchar is male), Aerie would want to ress mainchar as quickly as possible, Minsc would ask Boo for advice and Jaheira, if romanced, would go "not again... *sigh*". (Well, maybe not, but it's a fun thought
)

Yeah, I know that it would really screw up the game, plus it would make it HEAPS easier, because when you play you make sure you keep your main char alive.
But rather than say the obvious answer, which is there to make the game harder and set proper rules, I was trying to say a real life roleplaying answer. Oh well

Yeah, that would be a lot of fun!
But Black Isle developed this idea in Planescape, where when Nameless One dies - he hears the last words of one of the party members. And another phrase appeares when he resurrects.
("you know, that was REALLY difficult to drag you all the way up to the Mortuary with only my teeth" (c) Morte)
That was lol!

Oh! Just another thought!
If I remember correctly, in the intro to the ToB, the Voice says something like:
"Those who considered to be a Child of Bhaal were revieved..." (If I hear the "right thing" - English is not my native language). It goes just before showing pictures of The Five - just look at this intro again, you won't miss it.
So, it is actually possible to revieve a Child of Bla-Bla-Bhaal?

Possibly that's the compromise for being able to reload?

I assume the PC disintegrates when he/she dies, as is shown in the death movie, in the same way a certain foe from BG1 did.
Imoen seems to be the Bhaalspawn exception to this rule, given that you can revive her.

mods are the way to go
If you find the game unchallenging, try installing tactics-mod from
http://www.weidu.org.
If you are unfamiliar with this mod i can tell you, that it improves a lot of the battles in SoA and ToB, including Irenicus. This battle has been seriously improved, i haven't beaten it yet

True, I remember Annah going something like "Not again... *sigh*" and Fall-From-Grace "Don't worry, he'll be up in a bit" (or something like that xD) It was so long time since I played the game, but hey...
