I am very curios about Red Wizards of Thay. Only thing I know about them that Edwin (BG1, BG2) was onr of them and the rigeon, Thay, is in the east part of Faerûn, above Sea of Fallen Stars. But I don't know nothing about thier idiology, traditions and history. Would someone be so kind and tell me a little about them? :D
Thankful for answer, Chosen

1) Like their Mulan predecessors, they shave off all hair on their head (including eyebrows), although facial hair is questionable.

2) They cover their bodies with tatoos (calligraphy is a Mulan-inspired practice), which often serve magical purposes (very Mulan in practice).

3) Sorcerers and Bards are banned from high offices. Wizards - and specialist types at that - hold the power, and they prefer that the arcane powers come from study and training rather than innate powers. For the latest stats of the Red Wizard prestige class, consult the 3.5 Edition Dungeon Master's Guide (or the Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting for 3rd Edition).

4) Thay is divided into sections that are rule by Zulkirs. Each one of these also rules over a certain school of magic. The one who secretly has all the power is the Zulkir of Necromancy, the (lich) Red Wizard Szass Tamm. His stats (in 3rd Edition) are in the FRCS.

There is a lot about the Red Wizards of Thay in "Lords Of Darkness", Especially their organisation, their Hierachy, about the Zulkirs, The Tharcions and the Red Wizards. If you are interested, you really should get that book.

Some details:

Headquarters: Thaymount, Thay
Members: approximately 1000 actual wizards, with 5000 practising wizards in their service.
Hierachy: Militaristic
Leaders: The zulkirs of Thay (loose council of eight Red Wizards)
Religions: Kossuth, Bane, Shar, Loviatar
Alignment: LE, NE, LN, CE
