Hi. Everytime I try to talk to any ilmater priest I get "The priest of ilmater has nothing to say to you" this prevents me from completing you-know-which-quest. Could anyone help?

Get the lastest patch. This is a common bug with the unpatched game.

But I'm using the DVD Saga version, so I have ToB installed with the latest patch already... does it mean I have to install SoA patch beside that?

I'm quite sure that the ToB patch contains all of the SoA patch info/changes already, so I'd say 'no', but perhaps the experts will prove me wrong here?

That's what I thought, still what should I do to get rid of this problem?

I know you REALLY don't want to hear this, but if you have the latest patches installed, then it looks like you need to reinstall everything.

It sucks, but I had to do it recently.

Hi, Барсук.

When I played BG about year ago - there were no patches at all. (Or maybe I just couldn't find them - I didn't have an internet).

And this stupid message "someone has nothing to say to you" apeared many times over and over again. Half of all NPC (storekeepers, bartenders, I don't even mention quest NPC). One time it even came to a absurd: Meronia appeared to take Jaheira with her, but she couldn't initiate a dialog.
This thing really drove me mad, but I still managed to play this game. The thing that I tried:

I installed the game on an old HD to slow things down - and only a quater of all NPCs "had nothing to say to me". Then, if I ecountered such problem, I saved a game and reloaded. Then right after reload I tried to start a dialog. If nothing happened - I reloaded it again. Yeah, that's really boring, but on Xteenth time it works out.
The point is: you should initiate a dialog before your computer loads all the geme stuff in memory, cuz after it loads - it will work much faster and there will be "nothing to say" again.

Yeah, I am a maniac to play the game like this, but this is Baldur's Gate after all.

And if one of the Ilmater priests doesn't want to talk to you - check another. Maybe he will be more willing to talk...

I had a friend who loved RPG's just as much as I. He bought BGII when it came out, but didn't have interent access. This common bug haunted him forever because he couldn't patch. I'm sorry to say I know nothing of the DVD Saga Version. I have the regular box of BG, BG2, and ToB, so I patched as soon as I obtained the game. It bothers me knowing you patched, and you still get this annoying bug. Wish I could help more, It would drive me insane if I had the same problem.

Interplay.com no longer has a site, so getting Tech Support from them is probably out of the question. :(

EDIT: Seen that you posted that you reinstalled. Sorry it didn't work. Did you patch this time as well? If you patched and problem still persists, maybe try and see if the un-patched version occurs with the same problem.

Yes, i patched straight away... thanx for support, fortunately it just occurs with priests of ilmater so it's merely annoying not game-breaking. BTW I've tried all of them and the same... maybe the cause is somewhere in tlk? Going to have a look at that.

Download ShadowKeeper and edit your game to add in the experience so you still get the benefits. However, I cannot remember whether it is 200,000 for the party or 200,000 each, though I would believe it is the latter.

Very weird that it is not working, are you sure you are at the right Temple? There are Ilmater temples in both the slums and promenade.

Shadow Keeper should fix everything up, except for the journal.

If you knew the CLUA Console command.......maybe try and summon them in that location? Then try to talk to them that way. Obtaining the codes is beyond me though.

I'm searching for ya man :P What exaclty is the DVD Saga Version? I'm confused there. Do you have BGII: The Collection? I scrolled through a few BG forums to see if I could find someone with the same problem. I found a couple (for BGII: The Collection) but they were both at different locations in the game. One person suggested to download the "Baldurdash" patch, and install it. It can be found Here
If that doesn't work, maybe try BioWare's Tech Support Forum, which is located Here .

Other than that, I don't know what to tell you I'm affraid. Tell me how it works out.

Thanx for all the responses. I tried ALL the priests of ilmater and same story, I do not care that much for exp rather it breaks the mood of the game for me, I mean RPG is about believing the game world is real this does not help. It's - 'Baldur's Gate Saga' - two DVDs with BGI + Totsc, BG II SOA + TOB. Actually I've been using all the custom fixes I could find on the web, even thought it may be caused be them but it happens also with the clean install. Thanx again for all the effort everyone, at least You've cured me of my annoyance.

I was stumped, and I hate not bieng able to solve somthing. Your problem was like an itch I couldn't scratch :p On a side note, I'm going through the "Baldurdash" fixes I found earlier, and some of it looks like it might be worth trying.

His fixes are really ok. I'm an old BGI player (though new to BGII) and I remember his pack for BGI was a lifesaver at times.

I'm sad to say, that I didn't get to play BG1 hardly at all. I hate that I missed playing it before BGII. I bought BGII around the time it came out, and ToB when it arrived on the shelves. Ive been through BGII once all the way, and I've went 3/4 the way a good 20 times. (Also multiplayed a bunch, back when Mplayer.com was hot anyways. Mplayer.com owned Gamespy. For anyone who played when it was Mplayer instead of Gamespy, you know what I mean) ToB I have yet to finish. I want to go through BGII all the way again and import my chars into ToB before I give it a go again. Either that, or import my main character back into BGII and try to solo it on Core settings. (Always wanted to try that) It just enlightens me that I have all these new high graphic RPG's now, and all I want to really play......is this awsome Classic.

EDIT: Fixed some grammar issues......the ones I could see anyways (I'm not an english major) :D

 *wonders what that post has to do with the problem...*

Anyway, back to the topic. Seeing as you have reinstalled and try it with a clean install, I think your saved game is stuck like that. Spoiler
Make sure you have his heart and make sure you have been given the quest. If you have the heart, but Yoshimo never told you about the quest, you might have a problem.

If you have been given the quest, there might be two ways to fix this.
Firstly, As I mentioned before you could do the ShadowKeeper, but rather than adding in Exp, add in the heart.
Secondly, you can try to CLUA console the heart in, however I could not find a command, you might be more lucky.

Good luck whatever you do.

EDIT: What is the actual name of the heart? I thought it was called Yoshimo's heart but I may be wrong.

I'm pretty sure his problem isn't quest related. It won't let him initiate dialogue at all. The only solution really, is a fix of some sort. As he stated earlier, he doesn't care much for the xp, it just breaks the mood of the game. (Borsook seems to be a pure rpger)

EDIT: As for breaking topic, I humbly apologize Borsook.

Yap, I have Yoshimo's heart and the quest, but I can't talk to any of the priest even if I throw it out. Maybe You're right clean install could have helped but savegame is already broken...
