Is there an actual use for the Mask of King Strohm III? Does it give hidden stats that I'm not aware of?

I believe it protects against Critical Attacks, and may be worn by Mages...

You also should be able to see the Tomb guardian (Fire elemental), but it doesn't always work for me.

(you probably knew that already)

Hmmm, but the question is.......is it worth wearing?

Most often not, but there are exceptions. Haer'Dalis comes to mind. This guy will often be on the frontline with defensive stance but also with low HP. When his stoneskin runs out you don't want him to take critical hits before you get him out of there. Often critical hits are the only thing that hits him due to his AC.

If there's nothing else to it, I wouldn't say it is. There's some nice stones and circles that's a lot better. Protection doesn't do much for mages, for them it's either being hit or not being hit. If the monsters crit or not doesn't matter as they'll end up dead anyway if they're being hit.

But if you have nothing else that the mage can wear, why not?

True, but you'll get UAI later on, and pretty much every helmet protects against crits. But you will probably not be able to use it in SoA, so why not?

Yes, it quickly gets obsolete when the TOB items and abilities comes into play.

That applies to pretty much everything in SoA besides Crom, FoA, SotM, Carso, BoS, The stuff you can get from Diedre... Well, uh, nvm... :D

It is useful at the beginning of the game, as it protects against critical hits and there are few early helmets available to thieves and mages.

It's quite correct that by the middle of SoA, you should have far more valuable items to replace it with, but until then, the mask is better than nothing.

Kk cool. I was just curious about it. I knew a few items had some secret abilities/stats, just wasn't sure about this case.
