So, Wizards released a Dungeon Master Guide II.
It seems like a bit useless to me, but I haven't seen it in stores yet so I didn't get to look into it yet.
Check it out
for yourself.
Thoughts?

Well, they did put it like a supplement and not like a new core book. It can probably be useful, but I don't think it is needed. It will be out in the stores next month.

It's a suplement indeed, but it's still $39.95.
Pretty expensive!

I see it as a quick reference guide for DM's. If you have very little time to prepare or you have to come up with a NPC during a session, it could be useful. But I prefer to make NPC's and encounters up on my own.
To prepare a quest is at least as fun as actually DM the quest!
I might be buying, although I haven't got Lost Empires of Faerun yet, which I definately want. And Waterdeep is coming in June or July and that has top priority too. So no DMG II for me any time soon.

$39.95 is approximately 30 Euros....like any other new D&D book (including supplements (in hard cover))

For a suplement like this, I think that that's expensive.
It doesn't add anything new... perhaps they had better released it as a soft cover and cut the price a little.
But that's not profitable enough probably.

I totally agree. I only mentioned it, because I wanted to show that the book wasn't very expensive compared to other new D&D books.
But again, I agree with you that it doesn't add anything new

Sounds a lot like when SJ Games released GURPS Compendiums I and II. Both are good books though and I have GC:I.

Supposedly, there are guidelines in there for balancing PRC's. Given WOTC's previous record, that chapter should be a hoot.

LOL.
Well, I'll probably pick up a copy. Not sure why exactly, though
Seriously, I think that anything that offers help with creating balanced prestige classes, adventures, etc, is well worth the money. Whether or not the DMG II will achieve this remains to be seen, but I'll definitely give it a go.
