An odd problem

Sorry about posting this one, but I didn't know any other place as proper as this...

I'm having an odd problem with my BGII.
The game feels really slow on full installation. Loading times are longer than they are when played with normal installation. Even the moves of my mouse are REALLY sticky with max installation (even then when the games is paused and i'm for example in the spell book).

I have just recently defragged my hard drive so it shouldn't be about that either. And the mouse thing really makes me wonder...

And this has not happened with other games like Icewind Dale or Fallout 2. Of course BGII is more massive, but still.

Anyone else had this sort of a problem?

Thank you for any kind of help.
And once more, I'm sorry about this.

I have a full install of the game and it runs fine for me. A few things to check:
1. Check to make sure there's nothing running in the background while you play.
2. Check and make sure that you didn't accidentally move up the graphics slider too high in config.
3. If none of this works, try uninstalling and reinstalling. Also, get the patch just in case.

From my experience, most of the time when the game is running slow it is because I am having memory problems. When memory runs low (if it hasn't been cleared out well, as happens when you run other programs before BGII or if BGII has been loaded and re-loaded a bunch of times), the game (i.e. Windows) uses your hard drive as a memory cache. This can be really slow. One possibility is that you are using your hard drive for both map loading (instead of the CD as in the normal install) and memory management. This would slow down your computer.

When the game is running slowly, do you hear your hard drive running constantly? Also, you could alt-Tab back to windows and run the system monitor or memory manager (I forget which) to check your current memory load.
