Anyone pieced together the Droid Factory?

Post by stormcloud »

The facts:

1. There was a droid factory pumping out HK-50s
2. The HK-50s are based on HK-47

So who would want to be making them?
And why?
And what was the end resolution do you think?

i think the droid factory is just a money making scheme by whoever designed the HK models
She's got a smile that, it seems to me, reminds me of childhood memories, where everything is as fresh as the bright blue sky.

If you ask GOTO while o the Ebon Hawk, he says that he ordered the droids to come after you. Seems to me that he obviously had the resources (remember, I think it was Visquis who said that the bounty on your head was enough to allow someone to buy their own planet). He wants you to save the Republic.

Sounds like he built the HK factory to produce the droids to track you down.

They're programmed as protocol droids in order to allow them to be present when The Exile may be mentioned.

There was the suggestion on this forum that the droid factory was going to be on Telos beneath the Military Base- in my last playthrough I ran into a malfunctioning HK protocol droid hanging around the big door that you can't open. This suggests to me that maybe Czerka was involved in at least the design.

There's an interesting point, limey. It could be highly possible, the factory being on Taris.

I hadnt thought about Telos. I was wondering about Nar Shadaa since it seems so close to g0t0. But Telos makes sense.

Also because 3 more HKs pop up when you leave for the Arctic Academy.

Where do the HKs all pop up

1. Peragus
2. Arctic Plateau
3. Nar Shadaa/T3 interlude

anywhere else?

There's another one IN the underground base on Telos.

I was thinking about that little closed-off area by Vogga's place on Nar Shaddaa. I was trying to find the damn factory in my last game after I showed HK-47 the sonic imprint, but to no avail. I downloaded some patches to restore content lost from the game, and one of them was supposed to show HK-47 interrogating an HK-50. That's how you're supposed to find the factory, but I can't imagine how HK-47 could get hold of an HK-50; the only ones you find once you have the Ebon Hawk are on Nar Shaddaa, and you need to kill them to find the only HK chassis in the game in order to fix HK-47.

HK-47 insists that we wait patiently for the HK-50s to attack us again in order to find the factory; so far, the patch hasn't yielded any success. Probably didn't install it right or something; how fun.

Anyway, while Goto might be responsible for creating the HK-50s, one has to wonder where he got the specifications of HK-47. Sure it's possible, after all, he's had five years... minus however long it took to find a suitable location for the factory, ordering the parts to the factory, the maintenance crews, resources, equipment, get the factory running smoothly, upgrade the original model a few times (HK-50 suggests it might be the 50th model of the HK series, so someone must have gone through a few models to get to 50), and begin pumping out countless HK-50s... to find the specifications. More like a week and a half. If Czerka did it, you'd think there might be more of them. Although given their presence on Telos (if that's the factory's location), it would make sense since Czerka does have a large presence there.

I'm kind of leaning more towards Revan having commissioned them. Why not? If anyone knew how successful the HK series would be, it'd be Revan; Revan did have HK-47, after all. And Revan wouldn't leave the galaxy completely defenseless, if Revan's true goal was to stabilize the galaxy. Which they don't seem to do very well, if you talk to HK-47 for a while and learn about that one civil war (but then, what was it HK-47 said? something about one population being reduced drastically, and it would give the Republic an advantage in some way? The Republic needs all the help it can get, and Revan was never one to balk at sacrificing some worlds for the "greater good"). The HK's could be used as protocol droids, they're being used on Republic ships throughout the galaxy. They could double as troops in times of crisis.
