Temple Ruins question

I'm stuck at the door before the Shadow Dragon (Temple Ruins, level 2) and I don't know what I've done wrong.

I gathered all three symbols (Sun Ray, Dawn's Light, and Lightstone) and they combined to form one symbol. I placed this item in the hands of the statue, allowing me to pass through the final barrier. My only problem is, there is one more door at the end of the map (just before the Shadow Dragon I believe) that is locked and cannot be picked or bashed. Is there a key that I am missing? Or is there some action that I haven't taken? I have the shadow dragon wardstone in case I need it.

IIRC you need to take the symbol along with you.
Good luck with the dragon!

Ok, I'm obviously a dummy. Thanks for the help (you wouldn't believe how much this has frustrated me).

I'm actually doing this quest in Ch. 6, so I'm looking forward to killing that beast. I would like Crom Faer for my dual-wielding half-orc barbarian. The red dragon was a good fight, and I'm hoping that the shadow will be equally nasty.

Almost had the same thing happen to me except I didn't have the second Sun Stone Gem (from the statue beyond the 'puzzle floor') and couldn't open that door either.

Fortunately, I have both gems. This game can be kind of picky when it comes to these puzzle-like levels. You miss one little table or statue or chest and you can be screwed later. In general, however, the Interplay people did a great job of building in fail safes for anything short of killing everyone (I did this in the Underdark, kind of by accident, and I had to go pretty far back in my saves).
