Masterwork Maul

I sold the masterwork maul to Otis, before I knew what it was for, and when I went back to buy it back...all his inventory is new. Does this mean there is no way to destroy the orb? or is there another way to get the maul. Thanks in advance

If your game is unmodded:
Can you still purchase goods from Rannos and Gremag in Hommlet? If so, then you can get one other from them. If not, you're well out of luck.
If modded:
With the Circle of Eight patch, you should be able to purchase one from Brother Smith.

Just to clarify, there are two MW mauls in ToEE, even in its out-of-the-box form. The first can be bought from Rannos and Gremag, the evil traders of Hommlet; and the second can be found on the first floor of the temple, in a barrel to the south.
If you want to get one from B. Smyth, you'll need the Co8 patch. Temple.zip will not do it, nor will any of the official Atari patches. If you don't want Co8, Zuggtmoy is certainly defeatable without breaking the skull (especially if you use it), plus you may be able to get the item with the give command via the console. I haven't messed around with this. Ask around at Co8.org.

Enchanted the Maul
When I gave my cleric the feat of enchanting armor and weapons I tried it out on the maul (found in dungeon not purchased) and made it a +1 maul. Will that screw up the ending? This was just to experiment and try it out. I just did it and can go back to a save just before the enchantment and not have to redo too much at the moment if enchanting it will mess things up.
Thanks,

Honestly don't know. I could see it happening either way. The quest requirements are for a masterwork maul, and while magic mauls would be masterwork, the game may not recognize them as such. I'd play it safe and go back. Or just go get the other maul, if you can.

The maul
Thanks Lord Plothos.
I may just have to try it both ways now just to see if it does. I will go back as you suggest for finishing my first run through. Thanks again.
