Irenicus' Dungeon

Hey everyone. I just started another new game, because I wanted to try a few things. I've never not taken Jaheira and Minsc in the beginning before, so now it's just me (a Skald) and Imoen making our way through the dungeon. The last time I went through, I did it without resting once, and even then it wasn't too difficult. This time, however, without any real tanks yet, it's a lot more difficult going through. I still want to try getting through without resting at all, but I imagine some of these battles will be quite difficult - the one with the duergar and the one with all the mephits near the Djinni are particularly tough ones. They're made even more tough by the fact that I start the game with no spells memorized, so I can't even use my bard spells once in the dungeon. Does anybody have any advice for doing this?

Shoot and run tactics I find work well with the duegar. Hit them with an arrow/sling and run like a little girl, get one of your characters to lay down cover fire while the other turns tail and runs out of range of their axes :p While one character is shooting have the other moving into position behind them and start firing.

I don't remember what Imoen's hide in shadows is like so I'm not sure if backstabbing with her is an option, IIRC her thieving points were messed up and she was originally supposed to have a few more than she does (I know I've got a fix for it on here). I hated those mephits  I tend to just use "Dungeon Be Gone" nowdays after completing the first part of the game so many time. Brilliant mod.

What he said. If you know exactly what will happen to you in the whole dungeon, where to go and such, just get this wonderful mod. It's worth it, as Chateau Irenicus just is a pure waste of time nowadays.

Just out of curiosity, what exactly does that MOD do?

I don't know about that, it's a tad annoying ;) . But I don't find it so bad as to want to skip it alltogether. I think it's a fairly valuable part of the game.

@Thomas77. So far as I know (I've never actually tried the mod) it simply cuts out Irenicus' dungeon. I presume it dumps you at the cutscene in Waukeen's Promenade, I also presume with all the loot and experiance you would have otherwise gained. But these are guesses

Close. You come to in Irenicus' dungeon, but there's some humor involved at the start, and then you're asked a few questions (if I recall correctly). After that, you're moved outside the dungeon. You do lose any loot you might have gathered for sale in the Dungeon, however.

To make it even more clear :

- Irenicus tortures you and do his speech
- Imoen open you "cage"
- Auto-Save
- A NPC teleports in. If you talk to him, he'll reveal to you that he can teleport you outside Chateau Irenicus and gives you all the items/gold/exp you would have gotten going through it.
- If you accept, he ask you if you wanna stop at lvl2 to talk to Yoshimo (if you want to recruit him)
- He teleports you to the very end of Chateau Irenicus, and do a little speech. He ask you if you want to help those dryads chicks to be free, and then gives you cash, XP and items (every single items you would have kept... except normal weapons/missiles and the scroll of Summon Air Elemental

As for the Skald, it is best to summon stacks of units, as Skald song helps allies. As such, have him singing and monsters attacking. Also, you can sing, attack, sing without losing bonuses. ;)
