Nosferatu

I just started a new game as a Nos. and realized that my sire was quite a hottie when he embraced me and didn't turn into his true form until the trial. If a Nos can hot himself up for the embrace, why can't he do this while he is walking around town?? Seems like that should be a disclipline.

Nosferatu can turn themselves to those pretty pink-skinned Toreadors. But... Pheh! The Toreadors are so ugly! Their teeth are white and small! (Not like the nosteratu's - yellow, sharp and long! What?)
And when a Toreador walks the street, everyone looks at him! This is unbearable! Nosferatu like to hide!
This Toreador form is SOOO nasty! So the Nosferatu use it only to Embrace stupid humans. (Stupid humans... What do they find in Toreadors?)
How do they transform. Well, this I can not tell you. This is a big-bad-secret of the Nosferatu clan.

And, having heard from the comic relief, how could you explain a human actually bringing a Nos home for a little bump-and-tickle? It's easier to animate one initial sequence for all bloodlines then to animate a special one where a Nos sires you by dropping on your neck in a back-alley.
There is a character trait for appearance, but a Nos can never raise it above 1 because they're Nos. Their appearance is punishment for their vanity, which is why most of the Nos were Beautiful People in life (Gorgeous Gary Golden, Imalia). Mitnick is an exception - a Nos of necessity. There aren't a great many outrageously beautiful, vain computer geeks around.

was upset when started game for Nosferatu, I thought it would be really tough/hard to hide everytime and not to violate masquarade while being in masquarde area, or even in clubs! but all I saw is just people running away from me or just don't want to talk, or they react normally as I would play for any other clan! except for a few moments which I really liked
girl at a club
-AAAAAAAAH!
-don't worry! we'll keep lights off
or granny at the Diner place
-Oh my ........(dead)
but then I was in doubt: how will I finish Thin blood quest?
finished after 15 minutes and got back to malkavians
P.S. this is the only male character I took in VTM so far, girls really rock and guys don't :*

Look for a purse on the counter.
Being freakishly ugly is one of my favorite things about the Nosferatu clan. I get quite a kick out of mortal reactions. The lines you can use on the girls in the club are a riot. So far my favorite is: "But I've got heart! Want to see it?"
I also amuse myself by sneaking up on people, then popping up in front of them and watching them run. It's particularly hysterical to me to watch one of those bandana-wearing gangsters run away, screaming like a little girl.
I, too, was expecting to get maqeurade violations for being seen in public when I first played a Nosferatu. I think the game manual even says that you will, but I don't remember for sure now. Strange that you don't. There's no real reason to remain hidden in public.

In the PnP game, the Obfuscate discipline can do more than invisibility - it can also disguise your face ("Mask of a Thousand Faces", I think it's called).

Mmmhmm, Obfuscate level 3 is The Mask of 1000 Faces. It lets you cloud peoples mind to just confuse what you look like so much that they don't even recognise you... Or if your more adept at it's use, you can look like other people, or heck, you can just make up your own, beautiful face. This helps the nos blend into public, blackmail people, and scare the living be-geezus outta their enemies.
However, consider this:
Your a hideious, freakish, disgusting thing. You used to look human, you still FEEL like a human, but now if anyone looks at your face, your very life is at risk. You don't know if The Mask Of 1000 Faces is working, because you can't fool yourself with it... You might THINK you look like an apperance 5 body builder, but maybe everyone else still sees you as a walking skeletal mass with **** for eyes that drools blood and maggots. Do you trust that enough to put your life at risk by walking around, or do you wear a nice hood, a hat, a scarf, a big coat and stick to the shadows anyway just in case?
Sets mood nicely if you have the big, over dressed nos not showing his face, and when he does, he looks like a stunning beauty... But you just know he isn't... Somehow...

Mwahahaha! Sounds like fun. Now why can't we do
that in the game?

To make the nossie game harder?

And so the programers didn't have to write 300 alternate ways to do every quest where you just change your face to look like someone else. That'd be VERY easy... Of course, Malkavians could pull it off as well I spose.

Actually, that was the part I thought sounded fun. Running around looking like that, scaring the living hell out of everyone. Now that would be a blast! Sure, you'd get a masquerade violation... But it would be worth it.

Right up to the point they lopped off my head, put me out in the sun or set me alight, I would have utterly agreed with you.
Corse, when they were killing us, my last words would have been a roll of my eyes at you and a scoffed: "Good going Anaximander!"
There aren't a great many outrageously beautiful, vain computer geeks around.
As a computer geek who considers himself handsome I'm quite confused about this statement...

Posted: Fri Jul 29, 2005 6:20 pm
by yrthwyndandfyre
Yes, but are you vain? The statement wasn't about appearance. You to at least consider yourself good-looking to be vain about your appearance. Nosferatu aren't cursed for their appearance - they're cursed for their vanity. Toreador poseurs are beautiful people, too, but they are not cursed as the Nosferatu are because they're not vain.
I'm a geek, too, and vanity just isn't in the geek nature. I've met large numbers of great-looking computer geeks, but never once a vain one. Come to think of it, I've never even met one that seemed aware that they were good-looking. Overwhelmingly, the more common trait among even good-looking computer geeks is to simply not care about their appearance. If they're a geek, their geek nature will keep their attention focussed on the geek imperative, which is always to learn.
Hence, Mitnick is almost certainly a Nosferatu of necessity, because the chance of finding a good-looking, intensely vain, and immensely gifted computer geek are about the same as the odds of getting hit by a passing meteorite. Mitnick says it himself. His appearance doesn't bother him because, in his own words, he wasn't that good-looking to start with.
