Stun and immobilizing

I feel like the hardest part of combat is when your enemies have a stunish effect where they either freeze you in place, like those ghosts that comes in pairs in the dungeons, dont know if u have fought them, they shoot ice for like 5 seconds which will stop you completely! I am trying to figure out what a viable tactic might be against this sort of stun, blocking with shield seemed to work a little, hmm... if anyone knows how to kill these in an efficient manner let me know..

then the firedrakes! I tried fighting them melee with my good sword! but it seems that you cannot block the fire with a shield and you cannot hit them because they are almost always breathing fire, and when the fire hits you its the STUN effect again! so you cant do much at all? or is it just me who sucks at this ?

And now last thing i experienced was these zombie witches that used some entangling spell on me, like gripping vines or whatever they are called, it wasnt very good.. I am frozen in place for about 20 seconds, unable to do anything, i died before the time ran out since there were like 20 monsters all around me hitting me, and i didnt get to drink potion! i tried many times to fight them but couldnt win! i dont like to loose like more than 100k experience when i ressurect so i just load the game all the time.. hmm..

is there any kind of potion of freedom or dispell or something i can use against the gripping vines?

For what its worth

Well, those floating ghosts are a pain. However, if you have celestial magic and cast the Ice spell on yourself then they become your biatches. Likewise, having the fire protect spell helps alot against fire damage mobs. The best offense I have found to combat stun and immobilize spells is a good offense. I have the Dwarven Winter Axe a level 5 magic axe that ice stuns your opponent and you can chain stun them so you take a fraction of the damage you would normally.

Not sure about the others, but when you fight drakes, the only way I've really found to defeat them is with thrown weapons/bows. Put a tree between yourself and the drake and just peek out and open fire when it stops breathing flames. You can usually get two shots off before you have to duck behind the tree again. Unfortunately this method takes quite a long time :P But the resultant exp is well worth the trouble...

I haven't found any way to fight them in melee. If you get up close, they'll destroy your shield in a few bursts of flames, and sometimes you can't even block them.
