I just to clear some things for me here, your help therefore, would be most welcome:

the Xp cap of the game is 8 mil total, so its 4 mil to each class... what are the implications of this?
when will I be able to obtain HLA's? how exactly does it work?
is it even possible to reach the cap? because I really would like to be able to cast lv 9 spells and so on...

so.... your ideas and thoughts... here... now

I take it you're not using any mods of any sort?

The XP-cap can be reached easily, especially when your party isn't a full 6 people. If you're using a full party though, it might take a while to reach the cap and it will require some sort of leveling (Fire Giants in Yaga-Shura's House, e.g.).

As for the F/M multi char, you WILL be able to use the lvl 9 spells and you will gain access to both classes' HLAs. I'm not sure WHEN exactly you reach the HLAs but I think it was around 3 Million XP in total (so 1.5 per class). Don't worry, even with the cap you'll get plenty of HLAs.

When using multi-classed chars, I'd recommend smaller parties though. If you like bigger parties, leveling might take a while so you're better off with dual-classed characters.

I also recommend trying out some of the mods out there, such as Tactics and the sort, as they spice up the game by a fair bit and make both leveling easier and play more challenging, especially for multi-classed chars.

You will obtain HLAs depending on what patch and such you have. A totally unpatched game will give you your HLAs when you're reaching about 3 mil xp for each class, which is 6 for a multi, and really really annoying as you won't be able to use it for anything.

The final (and only) official ToB patch (and maybe other as well) does so that you get your HLA at the same XP as a normal, non-multi/dual-classed character, thus lowering it to ~1.5 mil for each class, 3 mil total.

And yes, it's very possible to reach the limit. I always do when playing 2 characters, and 3 should be possible as well. I'm not sure with larger parties, but I don't do Watchers Keep very often either. So you might be able to get some XP there.

And you will get Time Stop, sure, but not untill a total of 6 mil xp, which might take a while, and in bigger parties you even might not get it. :/

I think some are linked in a sticky thread at the top, but here are my recommendations:

Tactics Mod (makes various quests/enemies harder)
Ascension Mod (changes the end of ToB, to be the way it was REALLY planned to be)
Ease of Use Mod (changes certain annoying aspects to make gameplay more comfortable)
Dungeon-Be-Gone Mod (no more need for Chateau Irenicus!)
Item Upgrade Mod (allows new upgrades for several items)

Also, there is a very popular NPC mod, which adds the possibility of having mighty Solaufein join your party. It's really fun!

You can find most of those mods at http://www.weidu.org/main.html

If you have questions, try browsing this forum, most of those mods are commonly used and I'm sure something was written about them.

yet another question, when using tactics, is it possible to go through the mod with the npc's offered by the game itself? or will I have to customize my entire group?
also, say a certain fight, enhanced by tactics, is proving to be too difficult for me... is there a way to go back to the original settings of that fight?

1) It's "possible" with any group IMHO. Some situations are quite nasty though.
2) You can lower difficulty or uninstall the specific component.

how do I uninstall a specific enhancement?
also, the new upgradable items mod... is there a place in which the new items and their componants are listed?
thanks, yet again :P

1) When you uninstall, you can chose if you want to uninstall the whole mod or single components (same when you install btw).

2) If you mean the Item Upgrade mod, it comes with a readme. Check the subdirectory named "C" in your BG2 folder after you have installed the mod. The readme names all items and components needed to forge them.
