How many mods do you use?

I was just wondering how many mods people play the game with. I lost interest in Morrowind very quickly as I found it very shallow and uninspiring
. But in the past couple of days I've rekindled my interest in it through heavy use of mods. It's actually very interesting to see what the mod community has done since I last played; rideable horses, pets, children... it's astonishing what people have come up with
.
At the moment I'm playing with about 20+ mods... varying in how radical the changes are, and I'm planning on adding a whole lot more
. It's a pain getting them all to co-operate efficiently, but worth it for the added depth and that lil' spark of excitement
So how modded is your game? I'd like to hear what type of mods (e.g. skins, quests, abodes, skills etc.) you generally use, or if you like to throw all types in.

I would think 15 is a neccessity to have with all the tweaks that really don't even add anything. I have 200 something, and my data files folder is over 7 gigs with all the resources I have downloaded.

Not really, I used to only use around 3 or 4... like no-glo and simple texture changes, which truly is a light modification to the game.
I just wanted the general idea anyway
, mainly I wanted to see how many people enjoyed the game closer to its "raw" form without many mods.

15+, heavily modded? Really, that's nothing, and I'm not boasting. I'm using 206, at the moment. That's a bit on the high side; I think many people who enjoy mods use 50-100. Some, considerably more.

Well
ok my bad. If you can feel free to edit the numbers of the poll to something more suitable. As I said, I'm more interested in the general state of the game (light modifications or almost completely different). Back in the early days of mods, most players I knew simply used no-glo, armor manequins and the like.
A user of 50 mods was a rarity (since there weren't fifty quality mods
)
How do you reach three figure mod lists? I get errors and Morrowind doesn't seem to happy when I enable too many. Plus don't you get conflicts?

Thats the general concensus I'm pretty sure you will find with people who have been playing MW on PC for a while.

You need 1 GB RAM and a good, fast machine: I've got a 3.1 gHz CPU. I believe the limit is 210, but many creative modders simply load similar kinds of mods into the editor, one after another, and save the group as a single mod. Still, I would be loathe to play many mods with a few of the most script-heavy, largest mods, such as Wizards' Islands.

I use only the mods I've made to make things more to my liking for the use I put the game to. I disregarded the story line and plot and use it as a stress relief therapy type deal.
Generally, I have between 1-3 mods running.
I have one that has altered all of the alchemy ingrediants and tools, lockpicks, and armorer tools. Along with changing some of the weapons, armor, etc and adding my own, custom ones along with magical additions.
I have one adding 2 races, and modifying 2 of the originals, along with a few new classes for ease of use. The ones I normally create myself, I just went into the creator and put them together so I can just click on those in-game rather than go through the process everytime I play. I added some birth signs, spells, abilities, stuff like that.
The third, I did a second version of the above things, a whole new set of everything above done differently. Some new, some just different. I can't run that one with the above two because they conflict with each other.
I did download a few mods that gave me new races, spells and birthsigns. I wasn't at all impressed...half of them were flawed. I just downright gave up on mods after I looked through the ones I took the time to download and investigate and what not and found they were utter crap. I can't do the scripting or create new graphics myself, but everything else, I can. I'd rather spend twice the time doing things my way than spend a few hours getting frustrating at finding failed mod after failed mod and wanting to toss my moniter out of the window from sheer frustration.
There were a few others I did, little ones for my roommate to use that he requested before he got his Xbox and Morrowind for that. Those I didn't bother with using myself though.

Right now, I'm running 178 mods and when MW Summit refreshes I'll probably use more.

Well, since I only got started, I don't have any mods
What mods would you recommend? Where can I get them?
Also, when installing a mod, do I have to start a new game, or does the changes affect my current game as well?

I advise you to play the game for a week or two. Get to grips with whats already there. Then you can download mods based on what you do/don't like etc. Here's a few links to get you started though
you can either browse the mod databases like (
Thelys and
Morrowind Summit) or look through lists of mods other players have tested and enjoyed.
I've been building my library of mods through these two lists mainly:
Empirical Morrowind(which is based around making MW more realistic but has some very interesting ones on there)
Telesphoros' List O' Mods (This is just a really giant, catagorised list of mods that a player has tested and put together... nice to browse and pick and choose)
This is another helpful link, provides link to many other mod lists, including an excellent theme based mod list (such as mods for ranger characters etc.)
As I say, take it slow, don't want to get overwhelmed... Morrowind mods are like a
huge pick'n'mix sweetshop... great fun but can be alot to handle

We have a sticky thread at the top of this forum called Mods, where many mods are discussed and recommended. Check it out, for some idea fo what the people here think are good mods. Some links are provided, and Denethorn's listed excellent ones, as well.

How can you (with all due respect) call 15 heavily modded? I mean, yesterday my game couldn't run because I had so frickin' many mods (I mean like 300). Without mods, I'd say about 40-50% of all morrowind characters would be a fraction as cool. If it weren't for those awesome mods like assasin's armory 7.6 and Carnithus' Armamentarium, I wouldn't have my parrying katana, my raven wings, my dark minion armor with the little blade that comes out of the gauntlet, and the list goes on......

You must be editing some into larger files, right? Because there is a developer-imposed limit--something around 210, or possibly 215. I'd have to check. You can play more, but they have to be grouped. I've put three shop and travel sign mods in a single ESP file, for instance.

I don't recall ever editing anything, but then again, that number was a bit of an estimate....

Fable, how exactly do you combine mods? Do you simply load up the ones into the CS, then save as a single esp? Do the Morrowind, Tribunal and Bloodmoon esms have to be loaded too? I haven't really had alot of experiance with the CS
