Is it me or is Cern the worst NPC?

I'm sure I have not seen a single person who has Cernd in their party. To me he just seems really lame. Even when changed to a greater wearwolf he is still pretty useless.
Any cernd fans out there??

I agree i only used him for the Trademeet bit, other than that he is just pathetic

Yup, so do I. Although I go from Trademeet directly to the Druid Grove through Athkatla. Cernd triggers a quest in the city, regarding his son. But once that one is solved, I usually dump him.
"Ah, an AC of -9 you say, that's good. What? You mean PLUS 9?? WHAHAHAHA!! You're such a jester! Um, mm, you're .. you're serious? Serious!?" <starts crying>
Even his shapeshifting ability is not good at all, and since he can't wear ANY kind of armor, he kinda ... sucks, really.

he sucks. Can't wear armor, maybe if he was a greater wolfwear. But he's not ,

There were a forum in RPGvault.ign.com where players stated their comments how they rated NPCs and the composition of their favourite party. The person from the RPGvault (who wrote an article about NPCs and made some comments about them) wrote that Cernd is considered the worst NPC,but for him this statement was wrong.
Most replies about Cernd were negative, but someone posted that he had him till the end of the game and he wrote that Cernd is-by far-his favourite NPC!You can check his reply if you want to see what a player who tried him extensively thinks, and why he thinks he is very good.
I tried him a little in my party and i kick him out for Jaheira, otherwise i would have kept him.I don't think he is bad either. It depends on how you rate druid spells and druids in general. And I have to say that i like very much the offensive druid spells-summon insects, insect plague, creeping doom etc.

What about Haer'Dalis? I know he's a bard but his ac is not very low and you want to take advantage of his swords but I feel he gets pummelled in melee combat. And he doesn't have many hit points.

Yeah, I laughed when Haer'dalis told my kensai that he was second only to Drizzt as the best swordsman on the material plane...
If my character wasn't good, he would have challenged him to a duel! BTW, I'm starting to like my kensai more and more. Having a stash of Potions of Defense takes care that AC problem easily and one of them lasted long enough to clear out the whole drow city (only needed it in House Jael'lat though).
At the same time, Haer'dalis overall has a number of good points. He can quite a lot of spells and still be a good back-up fighter. His ability to identify items is convenient and he has some of the better NPC dialogues in the game.
As far as Cernd goes, like any shapeshifter he's decent up to level 13 but gets left behind as all the other characters continue to advance levels and he can't.
