patch 1.1 problem

My friend got this problem. He installed 1.1 patch, launched the game and there were no changes! It said it was still version 1.0. That's all I know.
Any ideas what's wrong?

to know if it is 1.1, try speaking with them if it's 1.1 u can press continue without listening to the long conversations and go to magic shops and see if they sell new items from before. If still not, try downloading from other sites and mirrrors
