2-person party?

Hey everyone. I've played through most of the game once before, until I lost my saves, and I wanted to play through again, only this time with a 2-person party, just for a challenge. I don't want to tailor the characters to make them perfect or anything, but I don't want them to be useless either. I was thinking about making them both Aasimars, one of them going 20/10 Ranger/Wizard and the second one going 20/10 Wizard/Cleric. I just wanted to ask whether it's actually possible to get through the game like this. Thanks.

.

certainly you can try - but it will definetly be a challenge - especially with this 2 builds!

...there were several attempts to solo this game - and a nice try with a solo monk ;)

...if you search this forum you will find his short and sad story :D

...if you still want to go with 2 I would suggest a:

pal 2 sorc X and a pal 2 - monk 3 - cleric X or soemthing like this...

you can find the detail builds in the power party thread on the 1st(?) page of this forum.

If you take a 3rd PC I would also add the 1st PC build posted there...

...but be warned - this will still be very tough and you will get stuck - from the EXP point of view in the mid-game!

Odd builds. Very odd.
And... ranger?
Why level 10? Cleric(16)wizard(14) is a really good build. At that you get all the useful cleric spells (level 9 spells are worthless) and 2 level 7 wizard spells (Mordenkainen's Sword)

Ranger, just because. I'm not a powergamer, I'm not trying to make a perfect party or anything, I just want to go through the game with two characters, and I don't really want either of them to be pure fighters.
I'm going 20/10 with the wizard/cleric because I want level 9 wizard spells, and cleric spells aren't extremely important for me. The other character though, now that you mention you can get mord's sword at level 14, it wouldn't be a bad idea to go 16/14.

It is possible.

However the game is sadly based on the 3.5 edition rules with few fundamental changes made. This combined with the excessive hack-and-slash, the initial exp boosts you recieve in the starter town and the subsequent low amounts of exp from monsters once you embark on your journey make for periods of xp droughts.
Carving a way through the clusters of enemies is hard in those periods.

I would suggest going for a duo in the previous game instead.

There is a problem with the fact that your characters are both Asamiir's. Asamiir has fav. class Paladin, so all other classes need to be within 1 level of each other to avoid the XP penalty. As neither of your characters has paladin levels, you'll be at a 20% disadvantage as soon as they get more than 1 level apart.

If you were going to use these builds I'd go for Human or Drow to aviod this penalty. I like the idea, but I think you'll have some trouble with these builds.

Maybe with only 2 characters in the party you won't need to worry too much about the 20% penalty. You should have plenty of exp.

What order will your cleric be? What school for the wizards?
