OK...In the Shadow Ruins (of course...) I have just finished crawling to the top of the stone pillar, while the wraith and the death knights have been throwing ice comets and blasts at me non-stop, and I activated the red rune button on the top. After this, there is only 1 gate open (on the bottom floor), but when I run thru it, it sends me to the floating islands! What are the islands for anyways? I just keep running thru gates until I get back to the one that looks like a gateway, but then it sends me right back into that room with the red rune on top of the pilar!

HELP! I am going crazy!

I have gotten the knight's sword, and activated the one rune in this room. What do I do to get out of this loop?

If you look carefully there is actually a second gate on one of the raised platforms. Just jump there from the central stone tower

note: as the poster mentions you don't have to get the glyphs in any particular order.

Aye. I see the platform with the 2nd gate, but it is never open. Only to gate I came in from is open, even after I already activated the glyph.

Any other ideas on how to get the 2nd gate to open?

Figured it out....

I had to kill the Lich, then the other gate opened.
