What a way to kill a Greater Wolfwere...

I had this problem recently and i went to the forums to find that the Greater Wolfwere in the Windspear dungeon is bugged...bugged in such a way that his health instantly shoots from injured to uninjured...so after watching him slaughter my party quite a couple of times i went ahead and did this...
With a level 12-13 party...and the answer to my problem was....tadaaahhh...plain old skulltrap....just line up 7 of these babies and he is as good as gone...went to near death which was a first for him and then my main char ( and a mage of all )whacked him over the snout with a staff and he was out of my way.
And i only have the official patch installed.
This is not a boast-post just some alternative to the somewhat general advice to hit him with all your melee-might since some parties might be lacking in that department or it might simply not be their style.
I just thought i'd share this with the community.

That warewolf is insane, I tell you. After killing Firkraag and getting the Carsomyr, I still couldn't solo that bastard out. I've killed him before though, so he's some kind of a mystery to me as he seem to be more or less bugged from time to time. :)

Mmm... my solution was "massive damage". As the greater wolfwere is higly resistant to magic, I chose to kick him :p
Items needed:
- someone who can take or avoid lot of damage (a mage with stoneskin, reflected image, blur, spirit amor... or a warrior with low AC). This one keeps the wolfy occupied.
- a thief. This one backstabs, via invisibility potions or via hide in shadows (so keep the wolfy at one corner is recommended).
- any other character who can help ( :p ), in combination with the thief's backstabs.

Maybe wands (save vs wands instead of vs spells) could do with it too :)
By some reason greater wolfweres haven't pose a problem for me the three times I played. I don't think I had a high level... I don't usually go to that quest first, anyway :)

When someone is soloing... how does it do against the wolfys?

There's a mod that solves the issue. The Greater wolfweres have an ubber regeneration, stronger even than Volverine's :D

Also, there's a mod that overrides that. Check the "BG ref crossroads" thread, you'll find it. Also, alternatively, you may try to whack him dead with an ubber ultimate hack and slash-magic combo, and destroy all his hit points at once. Hard, but not impossible.

Talking about ubber regeneration, the MOST ubber regeneration I've ever seen was that of ("spoiler") the Improved Torgal (Tactics mod). :p Fortunately, Nalia's polimorph into mustard jelly worked cool :D
When someone is soloing... how does it do against the wolfys?
Rather easy. A solo character will probably enter Windspear at relative high level and with some HLA at hands.

The problem, if any, is that the Greater Wolfweres are one of the encounters that gets worse at higher PC level, i. e. I met three of them. They were no big deal though, my PC was a F/M/T and so I explored the area while hidden, dropped some napalm after scouting their position to open the fight and finished them off with Greater Whirlwind - they simply had no time to regenerate.

Mmm... that way of killing sounds me like when I killed some rakhashas last day. I used my wizard slayer/thief, 5stars in katana, 5 attacks/round, improved hasted and with assasination. The poor guys hadn't time to give a blink ;)

If you can't beat em, join em is my motto
try the shapeshifter out, its kinda off topic, but you really get to appreciate and understand the danger of greater werewolves when you are one(or just pick up crend)

The Greater Wolfwere isn't a problem with the right mods. As for me, I just had Valen level drain it to death. :D

ok...I'd like to take that thread back to BG1, Werewolf island.
You remember, last level of the ship, there also is a greater werewolf or wolfwere. Anyway, it has the same incredible regeneration.

Well - I just met it, with my solo Jester. I tried everything reasonable my spell arsenal contained, without the smallest success. In the end, I did it via Ctrl-Y, as I couldn't find any other solution. :(
Does anyone have an idea? I think for parties in BG1 it won't be that much easier, too. I hit him with wand of frost, that was the biggest damage I had - about 30 when he didn't make his save - and by the time I could fire the next, he was almost back at uninjured.

Did he change with tutu, or has it really been like that in normal ToSC?

When I was playing a solo Sorceror I found Wolfweres very hard to deal with there where only three tactics I could think of:

Deathspell - Works on most standard wolfweres, though some may take a few tries and you'll take a good beating before then.

Spell Sequencer: x3 Sunfires - This seems to kill anything and everything; it may be possible greater wolfweres will give grief, but I find this is most effective.

Imprisonment - I laugh at you magic resistant non item dropping monster.

@Thar: I was always able to beat the BG1 wolfwere (although not easily) and I don't remember his regenaration powers being that strong. It could be Tutu; interesting, I've never played TotSC with Tutu and it will be nice to see if there are more surprises like that.
Good luck with the other TotSCstuff... especially with a Jester. ;)

well when i got to werewolf island i had a party, but first id consider killing off the other werewolves, fireball em, run down the stairs, once their all dead, run down, heal up and get ready to run around casting spells over your shoulder, im not sure how well thats gonna work with a jester :/
if not try summoning a crapload of guys with a wand, just keep shootin off charges and surround him, a wand of the heavens worked really well too...

As there is no saving throw, I was under the assumption that this spell either work immediately, or it doesn't at all.

But isn't there...

Don't they have magic resistance? That would require a couple of retries if it's high...
