Whenever I try to backstab with Yoshimo, it never works. Do I need to do anything other than hide in shadows and attack? Any help would be appreciated.

Does he hit his opponent, or does he miss? What weapons are he using?

For a backstab to succeed, your thief must be hidden (either stealthed or invisible) and behind the target. Do you have Yoshimo equipped with the boots of speed?
