When playing a light side character, this quest is a piece of cake + revieving a nice reward without getting any dark side points: Simply ask Kumus for a reward when he's up on the ledge. Then save him (for LS point) and speak to him again in the Mandalorian Ruins for a 1000 credit reward
However if you are playing as a dark side character - Do as above (do NOT press the detonation button althrough it nets you DS point). Instead, after rescuing Kumus and recieved the reward from him. Talk to Xarga and tell him that Kumus was a fool, letting the cannoks eat his bagpack (don't remember the exact phase). Not only will this give you all the rewards possible for this quest, but since you get DS points for telling Xarga that it was Kumus' own fault, the LS point you gained earlier will be "neutralised"
(am I the only one that noticed the irony of getting DS points for telling the truth )

PS: If you choose to take the easy DS points by blowing Kumus to pieces, you recieve NO rewards what so ever

Yes, but the "truth" gets Kumus punished, possibly even killed later; Mandalorians don't tolerate failure, and Kumus proved himself to be a disgrace.

There's actually a book out there called "Star Wars and Philosophy" that has an essay in it that points out just that: Jedis have a tendency to lie (Vader killed your father, Yoda pretending to be a goofball on Dagobah when he met Luke, etc) and the Sith tend to tell the truth ("I am your father", and so on). The difference is, when Jedi lie, it's either to protect someone from something that they're not yet ready to know, or for some other benefit to the recipient, and when the Sith tell the truth, they use it as a weapon to weaken their opponents resolve. Neat book, you should check it out.

Well, I think Yoda was telling the truth about Anakin... in a metaphorical way . And on Dagobah he didn't lie - he just chose to tell the truth later - that's not the same, is it?

Well, that depends on how you define a lie... If you ask me, if you're willingly withholding the truth, it's a lie. That being said, a lie is not always morally wrong. Take the "Vader killed your father" lie. If Kenobi had told him that Vader was his father when Luke wasn't ready, Luke probably would have run off and done something stupid, like join the Empire in an attempt to meet his Dad. Keep in mind, Luke, at that point, was a whiny little farm brat who was looking for any excuse to get off of that Womprat infested dustbowl. So, Kenobi, by telling a lie, saved Luke from endangering his life (since Vader probably would have killed or converted Luke if he met Luke at that stage), and, in so doing, saved the galaxy as well.
